Leipzig miss chance to go second
Ten-man RB Leipzig missed the chance to go into second as they were held by Hertha Berlin thanks to a late penalty from Krzysztof Piatek eight minutes from time.
On-loan Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic's early opener was cancelled out by Lukas Klostermann, but Leipzig then had Marcel Halstenberg send off just after the hour mark for picking up a second yellow card.
The ten men took the lead, however, when Hertha keeper Rune Jarstein somehow managed to fumble Patrik Schick's strike into his own net just five minutes after the sending off.
Piatek spared his keeper's blushes though by converting the late spot-kick - given when Matheus Cunha was bfouled by Ademola Lookman - as Leipzig had to settle for a tenth draw of the season, and their fourth in the last six.
The result ends any last hopes Julian Nagelsmann's side had of challenging Bayern Munich for the title - as they sit in third place and nine points behind the leaders with just six games left to play.
Pressure grows on Wagner
Schalke finally scored in the Bundesliga for the first time in 81 days - with Weston McKennie scoring here against Fortuna Dusseldorf after also netting their last league goal.
It was not to be enough though as David Wagner's side extended their winless run to ten Bundesliga games thanks to Fortuna bagging twice in five minutes through Rouwen Hennings and Kenan Karaman.
Fortuna are now just a point behind Mainz and Bundesliga safety after they drew 1-1 at Union Berlin.

20-year-old Christoph Baumgartner produced a wonderful display as he fired Hoffenheim to a 3-1 win against Koln in a game that saw both sides reduced to 10 men.
Baumgartner scored twice and set up the third for Steven Zuber with a classy backheel to help fire his side closer to the European places.
Baumgartner also had a goal ruled out by VAR and denied a hat-trick that would only increase his lofty reputation as one of the top young talents in the league.
