Barcelona have beaten PSG to the signing of Ajax's talented young midfielder Frenkie de Jong, with the Spanish side announcing his £65m transfer.
The 21-year-old, who was also heavily linked with Manchester City, has signed a five-year deal for an initial €75m fee with a possible €11m in add-ons, and will complete his move in the summer.
Dutch international De Jong can also operate in defence and La Liga leaders Barcelona believe they have signed a player who will be a rock of their team for years to come.
"With the arrival of Frenkie de Jong we add talent, youth and Barça style to our sporting project," club president Josep Maria Bartomeu said on Twitter.
"We are convinced that he will be a key part of our team for years to come."
De Jong will remain to Ajax for the remainder of the season to add to his 65 appearances for the Amsterdam outfit, where he's played his way into the Netherlands national time having won five caps.
