UK Open: Latest odds and betting tips

Michael van Gerwen is favourite to retain the title he won 12 months ago against world champion Gerwyn Price, who is next in the running at 6/1.

Peter Wright (8/1) is also heavily fancied while in-form duo Jonny Clayton (11/1) and Joe Cullen (16) are two of our tipster Chris Hammer's selections.

How players qualified?

As a result of the current UK lockdown, it was not possible to stage amateur qualifying events through Rileys Sports Bars as per previous years, so the 128 PDC Tour Card Holders will be joined by 32 additional qualifiers from the following criteria (selected in the order below):

  • Top 8 non-qualified players from 2020 Development Tour OOM who remain PDPA Associate Members in 2021
  • Top 8 non-qualified players from 2020 Challenge Tour OOM who remain PDPA Associate Members in 2021
  • Top 8 non-qualified players from 2021 UK Qualifying School Final Stage Order of Merit
  • Top 8 non-qualified players from 2021 European Qualifying School Final Stage Order of Merit

However, the following PDC Tour Card Holders will not be competing in the Ladbrokes UK Open: Wesley Harms, Robert Marijanovic, Daniel Larsson, Michael Unterbuncher, Darren Penhall and Boris Kcrmar.

As a result, six players received a bye in the first round. From the conclusion of the third round onwards, an open draw will be made live on stage.

Where can I watch the event on television?

The Ladbrokes UK Open will be broadcast live on ITV4 for UK viewers, through the PDC's international broadcast partners and through PDCTV for Rest of the World Subscribers.

The Stage Two action on Friday and Saturday will be streamed exclusively for all PDCTV Subscribers worldwide.

UK Open Darts History

With no seedings and a random draw made after every round, the UK Open has earned the nickname of "the FA Cup of darts" ever since the event's debut in 2003, when it was held at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton.

Phil Taylor beat Shayne Burgess in the first final and although the dominant 'Power' has claimed the most titles with five, there has been a wide range of winners including Roland Scholten (2004), Raymond van Barneveld (2006 & 2007), James Wade (2008 & 2011), Robert Thornton (2012), Adrian Lewis (2014), Michael van Gerwen (2015, 2016), Peter Wright (2017), Gary Anderson (2008) and most recently Nathan Aspinall.
