E-H Group Matches (Best of 9 legs)

  • Gary Anderson (1/4) v Simon Whitlock (3/1) (Group H)
This is a dead rubber of sorts although the Flying Scotsman will want to ensure top spot not only for momentum but also to avoid a likely meeting with likely Group G winner Mensur Suljovic, who beat him twice at the Champions League of Darts.
    Prediction: 5-3
  • Berry van Peer (23/10) v Cameron Menzies (1/3) (Group H)
Van's Peer's emotional battle with dartitis during his defeat to Gary Anderson was sad for all to see and who knows if he'll be able to find a short-term cure when he faces the impressive BDO player Cameron Menzies as both players eye a win to reach the knockout stages.
    Prediction: 2-5
  • Corey Cadby (11/8) v Glen Durrant (4/7) (Group E)
Having tipped Corey Cadby to progress pre-tournament, I've obviously been disappointed with the Aussie and even if he shows us what he can do tonight, it's too little too late. I reckon he'll edge it, however, as he has a point to prove after being so poor against Peter Wright while Durrant won't be a driven as he was in the opening two games.
    Prediction: 5-3
  • Peter Wright (1/3) v Alan Norris (23/10) (Group E)
It's winner takes all and I'll side with Snakebite to progress. He's the better player clearly having won 11 PDC titles this season and got to where he is this season by handling pressure moments such as these.
    Prediction: 5-2
  • Michael Smith (1/3) v Mark McGeeney (23/10) (Group G)
Smith played very well in a high-quality defeat to Suljovic and is finding his rhythm on the 180s having hit five of them, while he also hit 50% of his doubles. He'll have too much for the BDO number one, who has been disappointing in both his losses.
    Prediction: 5-2
  • Mensur Suljovic (1/3) v James Wilson (23/10) (Group G)
Suljovic is loving the big stage these days and his 5-4 victory over Michael Smith last night, averaging just shy of 103, showed he's beginning to find the gear that propelled him to Champions League of Darts glory back in September. He's beaten Wilson in three of their four encounters and should be backed to lay down another marker with high scoring and impressive checkouts.
    Prediction: 5-2
  • Dave Chisnall (1/3) v Jeffrey de Zwaan (9/4) (Group F)
Chizzy was good in beating Scott Mitchell but poor when losing to Stephen Bunting and if the wrong version of himself turns up tonight then Jeffrey de Zwaan can push him all the way.
    Prediction: 5-4
  • Stephen Bunting (8/13) v Scott Mitchell (5/4) (Group F)
This is very hard to call indeed. Mitchell was impressive when averaging over 100 in defeat against Chisnall before scrapping past de Zwaan whereas Bunting has been solid in both of his wins. It's a flip of a coin job in what's a very tight group, with all four players in with a chance. I wouldn't bet on either Group F games to be honest!
    Prediction: 4-5
