Co Stompe and his son - Co Stompe Junior - will join the likes of Darius Labanauskas and Cody Harris in the 249-man field for the PDC European Qualifying School.
The battle to win coveted places on the PDC ProTour begins at Halle 39 from January 3-6, with the winner of each of the four events guaranteed a tour card for 2019.
Players will earn ranking points on the Q School Orders of Merit with every match win they earn over the course of the four days
There will also be additional PDC Tour Cards awarded to the highest finishing players on the European Qualifying School Order of Merit, which is made up of points earned per match win over each of the four days.
Former World Cup of Darts champion Co Stompe is looking to secure a return to professional darts having previously featured in the PDC World Darts Championship from 2009 to 2013 - twice reaching the quarter-finals in his first two years.
After sliding down the rankings, Stompe returned to the BDO, where he'd previously rose to prominence as a fan favourite thanks to a run to the semi-finals in 2000, losing to Ronnie Baxter. However since 2014 he's not competed at the Lakeside.
Co Stompe Junior, who had some encounters with the likes of Michael van Gerwen and Michael Smith during his time on the PDC Development Tour back in 2011, is also among the participants.
The more fancied qualifiers are 2018 North American Championship winner Jeff Smith as well as New Zealand's Cody Harris and Lithuania's Darius Labanauskas, who both competed at the recent PDC World Darts Championship. The latter, of course, knocking out Raymond van Barneveld.
Players competing with World Cup of Darts experience include Germany's Jyhan Artut, Greek John Michael and Russia's Boris Koltsov, while Jeffrey De Graaf and Madars Razma are bidding to win back their Tour Cards having lost them at the end of 2018.
