Match report

Kane Williamson hit 115 from 117 balls as New Zealand cantered to a 61-run win on the Duckworth/Lewis method in the first one-day international against Pakistan in Wellington.

The captain led the charge, hitting eight fours and a six during his innings, and was helped by half-centuries from Colin Munro (58) and Henry Nicholls (50) as the Black Caps posted 315 for seven in their 50 overs.

Martin Guptill was unlucky not to reach the same milestone, but played a short and wide delivery off Fakhar Zaman which was caught by Shoaib Malik for 48.

Chasing 316 to win, Pakistan lost opener Azhar Ali in the first over for six - lbw off the bowling of Tim Southee - and number three Babar Azam went for a duck, also trapped lbw two balls later.

The tourists were three down inside four overs, with Mohammad Hafeez holing out for one off Southee.

A spirited innings from Zaman (82no) kept the scoreboard ticking over, but rain began to fall as Pakistan were on 166 for six off 30.1 overs with the game finally called off an hour later.
