Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla shared South Africa's highest one-day international partnership as the hosts beat Bangladesh by 10 wickets in the series opener in Kimberley on Sunday.
Having been set 279 to win, the opening pair commanded the crease and chased down the total with 7.1 overs to spare. De Kock struck an unbeaten 168 off 145 balls, including 21 fours and two sixes, while Amla's 110 not out came off 112 balls.
The duo's stand of 282 was the joint-third highest in ODIs for the first wicket, just four runs short of the record held by Sri Lanka's Upul Tharanga and Sanath Jayasuriya.
Earlier, Mushfiqur Rahim had impressed with the bat for the visitors with an unbeaten 110 but he lacked any kind of support, with no other batsman scoring more than 31 as Kagiso Rabada took four Bangladesh wickets for 43 runs.
The second of three ODIs takes place in Paarl on Wednesday with final game of the series in East London in a week's time.
