Nottinghamshire sweep to victory over Yorkshire in Royal London One Day Cup

A round-up of Sunday's action in the Royal London One Day Cup as Nottinghamshire made it five wins out of five by seeing off Yorkshire.

Five-star Notts sink Yorkshire

Nottinghamshire made it five wins out of five in the Royal London One-Day Cup as they swept aside Yorkshire by four wickets at Trent Bridge.

A disciplined performance from the Outlaws' bowling unit dismissed the visitors for only 213 in 42.2 overs, despite Adam Lyth and Harry Brook adding 107 for the second wicket.

Brook made 39 but was followed back to the pavilion by his partner two balls later, for 63, heralding the start of a dramatic collapse.

Yorkshire's last nine wickets fell for only 101 overs, with Jake Ball recording the pick of the figures - with three wickets for 32 runs.

Nottinghamshire romped to their victory target with more than 15 overs to spare, with Steven Mullaney unbeaten on 54, after Mathew Pillans took three for 57 for the Vikings.

Bopara shines for Essex

Ravi Bopara produced a superb all-round display to condemn Hampshire to their first defeat in this season's Royal London One-Day Cup while also giving Essex hope of reaching the knockout stage.

Former England star Bopara smashed an almost flawless 89 with the bat before he celebrated figures of three for 39 with his medium pacers.

Bopara had put on 150 with Ryan ten Doeschate, who also scored 89, to send Essex to a good total of 341 for six.

Former Hampshire fast bowler Matt Coles also chipped in with four wickets, a best for Essex, as Hampshire lost wickets at regular intervals, despite Rilee Rossouw's high quality 93 - with Essex prevailing by 111 runs.

Mahmood helps Lancs skittle Leicester

Saqib Mahmood became the first Lancashire bowler to take five wickets in successive List A games as his side overwhelmed Leicestershire by nine wickets in the Royal London One-Day Cup match at Old Trafford.

Mahmood, who took six wickets against Northamptonshire on Wednesday, followed up with five for 14 against a Leicestershire team which contained five former Lancashire players.

The visitors were bowled out for 80 in 37 overs, their lowest List A total against Lancashire, with only Harry Dearden and Ben Mike reaching double figures.

Lancashire took only 19 overs to secure victory, Haseeb Hameed making 29 not out and Steven Croft finishing unbeaten on 37 after the pair had put on an unbroken 73 for the second wicket.

The only Lancashire batsman dismissed was Keaton Jennings, who drilled a back-foot drive off Dieter Klein to the right of Mark Cosgrove at cover-point, only to see the Australian take a brilliant reflex catch.

Durham looking good at home

Durham made it three wins in a row at home in the Royal London One-Day Cup by defeating Derbyshire by three wickets at Emirates Riverside.

The hosts restricted Derbyshire to 255 for eight from their 50 overs due to tight bowling from Ben Raine and James Weighell, who claimed two wickets apiece.

Matt Critchley and Tom Lace led the way with the for the visitors, although neither batsman was able to pass fifty.

Durham were measured for the majority of their run chase, despite losing the early wicket of Graham Clark. Alex Lees made 55, scoring his third half-century in a row.

Michael Richardson (72 not out) saw his side over the line, upping the ante with five sixes to secure the victory for the hosts, leaving them in a strong position in the north group after five matches.

Somerset suffer first Cup defeat

Gloucestershire ended Somerset's 100 per cent Royal London One-Day Cup record with a four-wicket win in a low-scoring contest at Bristol.

The visitors posted 242 for nine from their 50 overs after winning the toss.

Lewis Gregory, the only Somerset batsman to look comfortable on a slow pitch, made 52 off 33 balls, while Benny Howell claimed three for 45 from his 10 overs.

Gloucestershire made 246 for six in reply, winning with four balls to spare. Graeme Van Buuren top-scored with 61, Miles Hammond made 48 and Jack Taylor was 43 not out.

The result left the hosts with six points from five matches and Somerset eight from the same number of games.

Hain the main man for Warwickshire

Sam Hain hit his highest List A score as Warwickshire overcame local rivals Worcestershire Rapids by 34 runs at Blackfinch New Road to register their first win in this summer's Royal London One-Day Cup.

Hain confirmed his reputation as one of the most prolific batsmen in the 50-over format as the Bears totalled 315 for five.

The 23-year-old completed his 10th century in just 54 innings and went onto score an unbeaten 161.

He rescued the Bears from an uncertain start to such an extent that they registered their highest-ever score in white-ball matches between the two counties.

Skipper Jeetan Patel was then the driving force behind a spectacular Worcestershire collapse from 86 without loss to 145 for seven.

Tom Fell and Wayne Parnell led a partial recovery with half centuries before Worcestershire were bowled out for 281 in 47.2 overs.

It was their second defeat in the tournament although they remain in strong contention for a place in the knockout stages.

Glamorgan off the mark

Glamorgan fought back after an indifferent start to win their first game in this year's Royal London One-Day Cup competition, beating fellow strugglers Surrey by 64 runs.

The home county stuttered to 160 for six, but the innings was transformed by an unbeaten partnership of 113 in 11.3 overs between Billy Root (113 not out) and Marchant De Lange (58no).

De Lange then ripped apart the Surrey top order, with a spell of three wickets for 14 runs from his opening three overs reducing them to 28 for four - and although Jordan Clark and Stuart Meaker did their best - the visitors were dismissed for 259.
