Fabian Cowdrey leaves Kent by mutual consent

Kent have announced the departure of Fabian Cowdrey.

The 24-year-old, whose father Chris and grandfather Colin played for both Kent and England, has left the club by mutual consent.

Canterbury-born Cowdrey advanced through the Kent Academy and made his first-class debut for the county in 2012.

He said: "I'd like to thank all those team members and coaching staff who believed in me and offered me support in my toughest times at the club.

"I wish all the supporters, (coach) Matt Walker, and the players all the best for the future. It was not an easy decision for me and I am sad to be leaving Kent, but I believe for the club and for my own well-being it is the right time to leave.

"I was proud to have followed in the footsteps of my father and grandfather and play for my home county."
