England v India: Fifth Test preview including betting odds, team news, start times and TV channel

Everything you need to know ahead of the Fifth Test between England and India at The Oval, including team news, odds and where to watch.

England sealed series victory by winning the fourth Test by 60 runs at the Rose Bowl, completing a remarkable comeback having been in big trouble when reduced to 86-6 on day one.

For India, it was another case of what might have been having come so close in Southampton and at Edgbaston in the first Test but despite this, the tourists have competed hard all summer and will surely be proud of their efforts.

Virat Kohli has enjoyed a marvellous series with the bat, dispelling any doubts about his capabilities away from home, while Cheteshwar Pujara and bowlers Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah will return to India with their reputations well and truly enhanced.

For England, a series win against the number one side in the world is something to be proud of, for all home advantage is so important nowadays, though issues with their top-order remain and will leave Joe Root and Trevor Bayliss with plenty to ponder over the coming weeks.

That can wait, however, as all eyes will be on opening batsman Alastair Cook whose 161st Test Match this week will be his last having announced his international retirement on Monday.

It brings the curtain down on a stellar career that has seen Cook become England's leading Test runscorer of all time and he will be desperate to finish on a high.

Our guide contains team news, start times, TV channel information as well as betting tips from our expert Richard Mann.
