Northamptonshire's Nathan Buck removed from Worcestershire match following blow to the head

Northamptonshire's Nathan Buck was removed from the Specsavers County Championship clash with Worcestershire after being struck on the head while batting.

Buck was sent in as nightwatchman on Sunday evening and was unbeaten on two when he ducked into a short ball from Worcestershire paceman Josh Tongue and was hit on the side of the head.

After concussion tests, the county removed him from the game and he was replaced by Blessing Muzarabani.

Northamptonshire wrote on Twitter: "After sustaining a blow to the side of the head while batting last night, Nathan Buck won't play any further part in this match. Blessing Muzarabani comes into the side as a concussion substitute and can both bat and bowl without restriction.

"Buck ran through concussion testing last night and this morning with club physio Barry Goudriaan and has been removed from the game as a precaution."

Buck's withdrawal comes after Australia batsman Steve Smith was withdrawn from the second Ashes Test at Lord's after he was struck on the neck by a fierce Jofra Archer delivery.
