India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has signed to play in the County Championship for Nottinghamshire.
The 32-year-old spinner was not included in India's squad for the upcoming World Cup and will begin his stint at Trent Bridge on June 30 as Nottinghamshire host Essex.
Ashwin is India's fourth highest Test wicket-taker of all time, with 342 wickets to his name in 65 matches.
He will replace Australia's James Pattinson as the club's overseas Championship player. Ashwin is expected to feature in six of the last seven matches in what is his second stint in county cricket, following a spell at Worcestershire in 2017.
"I'm really looking forward to joining up with Nottinghamshire, to playing cricket at an iconic venue like Trent Bridge and hopefully contributing to some County Championship victories," Ashwin told the club website.
"I enjoyed my previous stint in England with Worcestershire. It's a good, competitive standard of cricket over there and I can't wait to get started."
