Chris Eubank Jnr wants to emulate his famous father by winning in Germany against Avni Yildirim on Saturday night.
It is 23 years since Eubank Snr secured one of his finest wins to defend his WBO super-middleweight title against the then-undefeated Graciano Rocchigiani in Berlin.
His 28-year-old son also meets an undefeated opponent, Yildirim of Turkey, in his first fight of the super-middleweight edition of the World Boxing Super Series.
Both are aware the winner proceeds to the competition's semi-finals, where they will meet the victor of next week's fight between Jamie Cox and George Groves.
Eubank Jnr has fought outside the United Kingdom only once, when in his first year as a professional he defeated Denmark's little-known Tadas Jonkus.
He said: "My father was one of the most dazzling figures in his era and one of the most successful. He electrified the audience and made his opponents feel insecure.
"Boxing is not only a sport, but also a show, and I will try to be as good as my father in both matters."
He earlier weighed in at 11st 13lbs 11oz, slightly lighter than Yildirim who was at the 12st weight limit, and he added: "I am the next generation, the future of boxing. On Saturday I will terminate Yildirim, the so-called Turkish Rambo.
"I am looking forward to the fight, and I believe I will stop my opponent.
"The Ali Trophy is the stage for me to show what Chris Eubank Jnr is about, and I will show that I am the best super-middleweight in the world. I can't wait to get started in this amazing tournament."
