Ben Linfoot was among the winners on Friday and David Ord has the Saturday best bets.
Saturday selections
BAYAANN - 16:55 Newbury (NAP)
William Haggas is running hot right now and BAYANN looks another potential winner for the Somerville Lodge team.
It was interesting that he was fast-tracked from a Windsor novice win to the Golden Gates at Royal Ascot in the space of 12 days and like the vast majority of those held up in that race, was unable to make an impression.
But he remains with plenty of potential, has been dropped three pounds meaning he slots into this 0-95 from the ceiling mark on his second handicap start and we haven’t seen the best of him yet.
BROKEN ICE - 15:32 Perth
Stepping back up in trip, BROKEN ICE is fancied to repeat his 2025 success in this race.
His recent form figures are uninspiring but the Irish raider was out of his depth and didn’t take to the track in a cross-country at Punchestown and has run twice over wholly inadequate trips the last twice.
Back to up to three miles and from a mark two pounds lower than last year, he looks to be hiding in plain sight.
LOVERS LEAP - 16:25 Newmarket
She’s proving expensive to follow but LOVERS LEAP is given another chance with Billy Loughnane again taking the ride.
The selection was very strong in the market at Yarmouth last time but having been slowly away, could only run on into third behind a pair who dominated from the front.
Jane Chapple-Hyam’s charge has made the running herself in the past and a return to such tactics, from a pound lower mark and with a weak pace forecast, could work the oracle.
CLOCKER - 16:30 Ripon
She arrives here at the top of her game for an in-form yard and CLOCKER is fancied to return to winning ways.
Ed Bethell’s charge nearly followed up her Hamilton success at Leicester last time, going down by a neck to Captain Cairney after being slow into stride. She pulled 15 lengths clear of the rest that day and races from the same mark.
SOUND GLORIA - 17:20 Doncaster
She’s clearly one of Roger Varian’s lesser lights but SOUND GLORIA is progressing as her stamina is stretched out and is fancied to follow up her recent Catterick success.
The daughter of Nathaniel was strongest at the finish that day, beating Fairydale by a length-and-a-quarter. She’s up five pounds but also up to a mile-and-six for the first time and that looks sure to bring about more improvement.
BELVEDERE BLAST - 19:04 Market Rasen
He won this race last season off a three-pounds higher mark and BELVEDERE BLAST makes plenty of appeal as he defends his title.
Adrian Keatley’s charge looks to been building towards something and found the drop back to two-and-a-half miles against him here last time, staying on well in the closing stages. He has a fine record at the track and is very well handicapped right now.
DARK ROSEA - 19:46 Lingfield
She’s down a pound below her last winning mark and into a 0-65 for the first time in her career and DARK ROSA looks ready to strike.
The four-year-old has been back to form the last twice at Salisbury and Wolverhampton, her stamina potentially stretched when fourth over nine-and-a-half furlongs at Dunstall Park last time. Back to a mile and with Rose Dawes taking five pounds off, she looks a bet.
Sunday selections
MASSIMO BLUE - 17:10 Southwell (NAP)
He arrives here in good form and MASSIMO BLUE is fancied to make a winning start for the excellent Dylan Cunha team.
The four-year is a course-and-distance winner and was placed from a mark higher than this last season. He was trapped wide from a poor draw at Kempton two starts ago but went close as he did at Wolverhampton last time when again trapped wider than ideal. He has a race in him from this mark.
VEBLEN GOOD - 18:45 Pontefract
He's only two pounds higher than when winning here in April and VEBLEN GOOD rates a bet for the in-form David O'Meara team.
It's still early days for the four-year-old with this yard and he's on the same mark as when running very well in the Sky Bet Dash, finishing fourth behind Stratusnine. These are calmer waters and a low draw adds to his claims.
