Winners at 6/1, 20/1 and 5/2 in recent days for our team as David Ord takes you around the tracks on Saturday, the Nap running at York.
Saturday selections
HALLO SPACEBOY - 16:15 York (NAP)
Oisin Murphy is a significant booking for HALLO SPACEBOY who should take an awful lot of stopping in this sprint handicap. Ed Walker’s low-mileage three-year-old cruised through the race at Ascot last time and looked set for a comfortable victory when quickening clear of his rivals. However, he was run down by the late surge of Secret Santa but was still three-and-and-a-quarter lengths clear of the chasing pack. Expect a stalking ride and a bold show from what looks a handy draw.
FIRST TIME - 16:10 Chester
He’s still relatively new with Richard Fahey and took a big step forward on his second start for the team so FIRST TIME looks ready to resume winning ways. The son of Mohaather needs a strong gallop to chase and looks sure to get that on Saturday and has a handy draw in five. A strong traveller, he looks the sort to be effective around here and is an interesting bet.
BIG WIN - 16:58 Newcastle
He’s up and running for James Owen and BIG WIN can build on his victory at Chepstow last time. He’s up five pounds for a length-and-a-half defeat of Wonderful Wendy but there could be more to come now he’s fully in the groove for a team have have excelled at improving new recruits in recent years.
SUDDENLY I SEE - 18:25 Lingfield
He had an off-day at Sandown last time but SUDDENLY I SEE is the sort to bounce back quickly and with an uncontested lead in the offing, might take a bit of catching. Charlie Johnston’s charge is potentially still well handicapped on his Musselburgh defeat of Blues And Royals in the spring and has been gelded since last seen.
QUANTUM POWER - 18:45 Windsor
He was a ready winner at Newmarket last time and a five pounds hike might not prevent QUANTUM POWER from following up. Billy Loughnane takes over in the saddle for the first time and his mount was good value for a length-and-a-half defeat of Good Earth. He gets in here off the ceiling rating and should sit handy, which is often the place to be over the trip at Windsor.
ACT OF VIOLENCE - 20:05 Chepstow
He’s been out of sorts of late but switched to an excellent new yard, ACT OF VIOLENCE is fancied to bounce back. Now with Tony Carroll, he takes a significant drop in class and is very well treated if the new team are able to spark anything like a revival. This is a weak heat too.
