Swiss duo Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic win Hopman Cup

Roger Federer and Belinda Bencic of Switzerland won the Hopman Cup on Saturday.

The pair defeated Germany's Alexander Zverev and Angelique Kerber 4-3(3) 4-2 in the decisive match of the final.

Federer recovered from a set down to beat Zverev 6-7 6-0 6-2 in the opener, giving Switzerland the lead, but Germany drew level when Kerber beat Bencic 6-4 6-1.

Federer first lifted the Hopman Cup in 2001, partnered with Martina Hingis.

"It's amazing," Federer said. "My week with Martina Hingis at the time is a little like what it must be like for Belinda. I didn't know then what my career was going to be like."

Bencic added: "This is a dream come true for me and I couldn't wish for a better partner. I'll never forget this week, it's absolutely incredible.

"I so enjoyed being back. It's a great preparation for the Australian Open."

Federer is 15/8 to defend his Australian Open crown with Sky Bet, having been supported since Andy Murray confirmed his withdrawal from the event.

Bencic meanwhile is a 28/1 shot for the women's event, in which joint-favourites Garbine Muguruza and Karolina Pliskova are 7/1.
