Miami Open: John Isner beats Mischa Zverev to win title

John Isner won the Miami Open with victory over Mischa Zverev in three sets at Crandon Park.

The American number 14 seed won 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 6-4 against his German opponent to become the oldest first-time winner of an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title at 32.

After dropping the first set on a tie-break, Isner broke his opponent in game nine of both the second and third sets before serving out each time to take the win in two hours and 30 minutes.

"I couldn't have scripted this. I came into this tournament, I won one ATP [World Tour] match all year and was playing very poorly," Isner said after his win.

"I won my first match in three sets and that's how tennis goes - you start to gain a little confidence and next thing you know things start to roll your way."
