Defending champion Ding Junhui crashed out of the Hong Rui Ma Yushan World Open, losing 5-4 to Robert Milkins.
Neil Robertson and Judd Trump also lost in Wednesday's second round on a day of upsets in China.
Robertson lost out 5-3 to Ricky Walden, with Trump beaten by the same scoreline against Gary Wilson.
Milkins' last-16 opponent will be Marco Fu, who edged out Andrew Higginson 5-4. Walden will meet David Gilbert, a 5-3 winner against Ali Carter, while Gary Wilson's reward for ousting Trump is a clash with Fergal O'Brien.
O'Brien turned a 4-0 deficit on its head to see off Luca Brecel with five-straight frames in a fine comeback victory.
Jack Lisowski sent Mark Allen packing 5-1, to tee up a meeting with Kyren Wilson, who accounted for Harvey Chandler 5-3.
World number one Mark Selby saw off Jamie Jones 5-2, and will take on Noppon Saengkham after the Thai beat Ryan Day 5-2.
World champion Mark Williams, Joe Perry, Anthony Hamilton, Xiao Guodong, Matthew Selt and Barry Hawkins were the other winners on Wednesday.
