Rocky's Diamondt137
Age: 6|  Weight: 12-3| J: Philip Donovan(3)| T: D Queally| OR:  145
Promising start over fences last season, scoring at Galway in September before backing that up in listed/graded level. However, he was tailed off on both outings over hurdles in the winter and he'll need to hit the ground running on return. Tongue tie reapplied.

Pride Of Placeb30
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-3| J: Charlie O'Dwyer(3)| T: E Bolger| OR:  131
Bounced back to form in refitted headgear when winning 11-runner Killarney National (3¼m, good to soft) last month. Yard have a brilliant recent record in this and he could well be up to defying a 9 lb higher mark.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-13| J: John Shinnick| T: W P Mullins| OR:  127
Pretty useful but just a maiden success to her name over fences. Not seen since when facing a stiff task from 2 lb out of the weights in Coral Gold Cup at Newbury (3¼m, good to soft) in November but no surprise to see an improved effort here.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-13| J: Anna McGuinness(7)| T: W P Mullins| OR:  127
Useful winning hurdler but increasingly looks a stable lesser light, unplaced in 8 tries over fences and making little impact at Punchestown (2½m, good to soft) just under 6 weeks ago.

Doubled his tally in hunter chases when winning 11-runner event at Listowel (3m, good to soft) last week, going one better than he had the previous year. Switches to handicap company and will need to progress again to feature.

Kings Hill65
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-10| J: Gavin Brouder| T: P J Gilligan| OR:  124| BF
Useful hurdler at his best and capitalised on a lower chase mark in novice handicap at Limerick in March. Ran at least as well when third in 17-runner contest at Fairyhouse (21f) in April but this trip seems likely to stretch him (tailed off both starts over 3m).

Ambitious Fellowp7

Runner-up in this race last year (from the same mark) and matched that form when fifth in the Champion Hunters Chase at Punchestown last month. Would have probably finished third had he completed in a hunter at Listowel last week and a bold showing is anticipated provided his jumping holds up.

Killaney Kingh63
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-6| J: Ricky Doyle| T: R O'Sullivan| OR:  120
Reliable maiden hurdler who had been given a chance by the handicapper and ran well upped in trip when second of 17 in handicap at Fairyhouse (25f, soft) 9 weeks ago. Has since left Henry de Bromhead but completely unexposed over staying trips, he's a must for the shortlist.

Rocky's Howyab25
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-6| J: Kevin Healy(7)| T: D Queally| OR:  120
Trailblazer who has been resurgent equipped with headgear, making it 4 wins from last 5 starts (over hurdles/fences) in a Clonmel claiming hurdle (19.5f) last month. Back chasing and would be folly to rule out in this vein of form.

Hadn't been in much form when last seen but probably needed the run after 6 months off at Kilbeggan (2½m, good) recently. Extra distance a worry here (borderline useful as a hurdler up to 2½m).

Born Brightp23
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-1| J: Mike O'Connor| T: C O'Connell| OR:  115
Dual-winning hurdler in 2024/25 and matched that feat over the larger obstacles last season. Ran well reverted to hurdles after 9 months off at Wexford (2½m, good to soft) recently and no surprise should she continue that good work back chasing.

Goody Four Shoes35
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-1| J: Harry Sexton(7)| T: T Gibney| OR:  115
Built on previous promise to finally shed his maiden tag in 7-runner handicap chase at Down Royal (3¼m, good) 5 weeks ago, digging deep under pressure to get the better of a lengthy duel with Barrow Ranger. Doesn't have many miles on the clock and he can kick on now up and running.

Hermino AAb130
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-0| J: Tom Kelly(7)| T: E McNamara| OR:  114
Useful at best for Gary & Josh Moore but has shown little since joining his current yard, never better than mid-division having been typically less than fluent at Killarney last time. Blinkers the headgear of choice here.

Harbour Highwayp1,t18
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-0| J: Aidan Kelly(3)| T: E Mullins| OR:  112
Off the mark over fences when winning a 10-runner handicap at Leopardstown in March and has finished runner-up the last twice, most recently in 8-runner handicap at Limerick (25f, good), best work finish. Cheekpieces applied and he's another to consider from just out of the weights.

Has gone the wrong way since novice days and fared little better of late on first outing since leaving P. A. Fahy at Leopardstown (3½m, soft) 3 months ago. 4 lb out of the weights. RESERVE.

Verdict

Cases can be made for any number of these, but PRIDE OF PLACE was an emphatic winner of the Killarney National last month and with connections boasting an excellent recent record in this race, he's taken to enhance that further at the expense of Ambitious Fellow, who finished runner-up in this corresponding race last year. Stable-switcher Killaney King, Harbour Highway and Boston Rover are just a handful of others to consider, too.
