A ready winner in the first time hood over C&D late last month (16/1). Can be a fraction tricky in the stalls, but he clearly built upon his debut experience, and there could be more to come despite the penalty.

Desert Doctor21
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-9| J: L P Keniry| T: E Walker| CD
8/1
Back from a couple of months off with a victory in a slightly stronger novice event over C&D late last month (beat Lashabeeh by a neck). Penalised now, but this 115,000 gns yearling who is a half-brother to Gracious John is much respected.

25/1
Unraced third foal by Paco Boy out of Spring Green. Cost £48,000 as a yearling, and is a brother to the speedy 5f handicap winner New Road Side, as well as a half-brother to the Listed placed Byzantium.

20/1
Cost £30,000 earlier this year, but this Swiss Spirit colt finished only sixth (beaten approximately 4½L) by Desert Doctor over C&D on debut. Entitled to improve, but needs to do so.

200/1
Harbour Watch filly (13th foal) who started at odds of 100/1 when filling the rear division in a 7f event at this track in November. Down in trip, but needs to up her game massively.

Lady Al Thumamat156
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: S Donohoe| T: C Fellowes| BF
9/1
Missed a couple of planned AW engagements since finishing fourth to Wild Impala at Newmarket in late October (7f). Bred to be effective on synthetics, and her debut course effort is respectable form. Wears a tongue tie on her first try at 6f.

(4)
Horse silk
40/1
Society Rock filly who was sold cheaply earlier this year for £600 (5,500 gns yearling). Stronger at Chelmsford latest (6f) than on debut at Southwell (7f), but looks slightly out of her depth in this contest.

Moon Song19
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: H Crouch(3)| T: C G Cox
12/1
Lethal Force filly (42,000 gns foal) who has done little wrong in either start so far, and is on an upward curve. Raced prominently throughout, but always just held when beaten ½L by Lady Willpower at Chelmsford earlier this month (6f).
10
(10)
Horse silk
250/1
Finished a tailed off last of 13 on debut over 7f here last month, and returns to action wearing a hood which will hopefully allow her to take things in her stride and gain some much needed 'proper' racing experience.

(12)
Horse silk
100/1
Unraced fourth foal by Camacho out of the 1m-1m4f placed dam Radio Wave. €6,000 yearling who is closely related to 7f winner Vixen. Likely to find a few of these rivals much wiser.
12
(2)
Horse silk
11/4
Unraced first foal by Havana Gold out of the 6f-1m winner (US Grade 2) Up In Time. Cost just 16,000 gns as a yearling, and time might tell that was a fairly decent purchase.

Forecasts

Count Otto (6/5), Worship (11/4), Ambroise (13/2), Desert Doctor (8/1), Lady Al Thumama (9/1), Moon Song (12/1), Sea Ess Seas (20/1), Pak Choi (25/1), Mischievous Rock (40/1), Woggle (100/1), Bayards Cove (200/1), One More Dawn (250/1)

Verdict

The early part of tonight's Kempton card has a similar feel, and is very much a story of experience versus inexperience. Both Count Otto and Desert Doctor are penalised for their recent C&D successes, with perhaps the latter named appearing the most straightforward of that pair. Lady Al Thumama drops to 6f for the first time wearing a newly applied tongue tie, whilst Ambroise (a brother to Brian The Snail) is the most interesting of the newcomers. However, it is Clive Cox's steadily progressive filly MOON SONG who rates as the selection. She has done nothing but improve, and can make the most of the weight she receives from the penalised pair; which is further boosted by both her fillies allowance and her riders 3lb claim.
  1. Moon Song
  2. Desert Doctor
  3. Ambroise
