Previous C&D winner that arrives here in good heart. 2lb lower than his last winning mark, it will be noteworthy if supported on this return to the polytrack.
Prefers firm ground on turf but comes into this after three fairly modest efforts in that sphere. Stable going great guns but this fellow has risks attached and needs to better the performance of his only previous course visit by quite some way.
Best when on the speed, so possible the fitting of cheekpieces will set him alight and help negate his wide draw. Two starts for his current yard very encouraging and very positive jockey booking. All the pieces in place for a bold effort at least.
Has some decent efforts to his name. Latest second at Windsor a strong piece of form and has to be respected on that run. Also a positive that he handles this course, so very dangerous to underestimate despite most of his form being over further.
Expensive to follow since his win at Lingfield last summer and has disappointed as favourite three times. Missed the break on more than one occasion and will struggle if his old habit resurfaces.
Dual C&D winner that may have been in need of the run latest and should strip fitter this time. Yard has enjoyed a great season and sure to have him cherry ripe before too long. Interesting contender if backed.
Hard to win with and has been frustrating to follow this season. Claims on the pick of his efforts but needs to prove he's not just on the downgrade.
Likes to race with the pace and well suited by the track at Epsom last time out. Raised just 2lb for that win, the gelding may have a bit more to offer for his new yard and has to merit consideration despite this being a stiffer test.
Enjoyed success at a couple of the other AW tracks but has also gone well here, so very feasible he could be a player in this company, as he should get the strong pace he needs. One to keep tabs on in the betting.
Switched stables and has been gelded during the last six months, so possible there are excuses for a handful of moderate efforts. Needs to equal his best from his current mark and need to drop a few more lbs before he can get competitive.
Sent off as favourite in each of his last three starts and although running well, he's not been quite able to justify the position. Very capable of making the frame but too expensive to recommend for win only now.
Well travelled individual (won in the USA as a thee-year-old) but form has been mixed of late. Should be sharper after having had a blow-out last month - his first run since April; but others looks better placed to take advantage this time.
Forecasts
Mishaal (11/4), Born To Finish (7/2), Himself (7/1), Maazel (8/1), Don't Blame Me (8/1), Kowaiyess (10/1), Debonaire David (12/1), Red Alert (12/1), Higher Court (16/1), Very Honest (16/1), Highly Sprung (20/1), Big Lachie (50/1)
A tough finale to call as not too many can confidently be ruled out. Mishaal certainly being one that arrives in good heart and merits consideration despite him being expensive to follow of late. Red Alert has a similar profile and has hit the ground running for his new yard. He likes to dominate so his best chance appears to rest on him gaining a handy position from his wide draw. However, a strong pace will suit HIMSELF, whose latest effort at Windsor is a sound piece of form and he will be difficult to master if dishing out a an improved effort. Debonaire David will also benefit from a strong tempo and is another that would be dangerous to eliminate too readily.
- Himself
- Red Alert
