Has run here on three of his last four starts but appears a better horse at Musselburgh where he recorded his only career win over 7f off a mark of 77. Has still looked capable off the higher mark that he now runs off but didn't appear suited by the 6f he ran over here last time although that was in a higher grade than this with Tommy G one place behind.
Former Ayr Silver Cup winner in 2015 off a mark 97 over C&D (apprentice ridden) and although he's not quite up to that class now he's still a capable sprint handicapper. Made his class tell last time out dropped into a claimer at Ripon over today's trip having previously turned in a good effort over C&D (good-to-soft) when dropped into this grade for the first time since 2014. Beaten by Muscika on that occasion under today's rider and worse off at the weights this time around.
Formerly with Michael Dods his best performance for his new yard came when winning over this trip in soft ground at Chester on his penultimate start (cashed in on his lowest mark for two years under a good ride).Otherwise his form this year has been rather patchy look as exemplified by his poor run at Doncaster last time out.
Missed the whole of last year after winning nurseries as a juvenile when with Charlie Appelby off marks of 76 and 82. Hasn't shown that much for his new yard after being bought from Godolphin for £20,000 and the handicapper hasn't cut him much slack in that time away or since.
A winner on the card last year he subsequently won off a higher mark (85) at York over this same trip. Ended last season a little in the doldrums and that really continued this year until running well here over 5f a couple of starts back with his mark slipping below his last winning one. Held his form quite well in two starts since finishing fourth last time at Doncaster and showing that ground on the soft side of good suits him well.
One of a trio of three-year-olds in this field he only ran twice as a juvenile for Richard Hannon before being sold for £24,000 last October to current connections. Scored on debut for them at Thirsk in a maiden (6f, good) overcoming some inexperience to score before disappointing on his handicap debut over 7f at York (hung left under pressure). Resumed his upward curve here last time when well backed and returning to 6f (good-to-soft) beating Tatlisu and looking a much straighter individual.
Ended a long losing run when winning at Carlisle in May (strong in betting/showed better attitude) over 6f off a declining mark doing well to come from off the pace. Has run respectably in a couple of starts since over 6f/7f without ever looking like he was going to land a blow and probably needs a pace collapse to win something like this.
Ended his juvenile season with a win at Newcastle over 6f and has some solid placed efforts to his name this season over the same trip. Appeared to be lit up by the first time blinkers last time at Pontefract (did too much early) and faded late on. Without any headgear this time but the draw gods have been very unkind placing him on the far side of this decent sized field and that may not be ideal.
Ran surprisingly well over 5f here last time out when having his second run in two days at the track having run over 6f the day before. Holds some fancy entries over 6f/7f and this trip should suit him better although his best form and only win remains over 7f here in May. Should run his race but others hold stronger claims and look a little more speedy.
Gained his first win for the best part of two years just over a year ago at Ripon off a 3lb higher mark over 6f with cut in the ground but that started another long losing run. He did run a sound race though in the Bronze Cup over C&D off an 8lb higher mark when the only one from a double-figure draw to make the first eight home. Hit the skids a little after that but showed some promise in his latest start at Doncaster over 6f off this mark (75) and he might be able to take a hand here.
C&D winner who handles most ground and took four handicaps last year all over 6f with the last win coming off a mark of 85 at Newcastle. That productive campaign meant that he started this season on a career high mark of 88 and he struggled although the handicapper has been quite quick to release the handbrake. His last two starts at York and Hamilton have shown that he could be ready to strike and he did really well from a poor draw at the latter track last time out.
Proved very strong in the betting when winning over C&D last year in a lower grade than this (0-75) and had the race run to suit. Hasn't really looked in much form this year so far and disappointed again on her most recent run at Nottingham and looks up against it here on her current form.
The final three-year-old in the field he looks to have a tough task here from 1lb out of the handicap and hasn't really shown much for this trainer at all. The hood goes on for the first time and this £12,500 purchase from the Hugo Palmer yard hasn't shown enough as yet to be considered here.

There’s a chance here that with the stalls on the stands side that a high draw could be favoured and there are a few amongst the high numbers that have been knocking at the door of late. KENNY THE CAPTAIN would be one of those and his last two starts have shown that he’s nearly ready to strike. Muscika can’t be left out of the mix as he looks the most progressive of the three-year-olds and his form ties in closely with Tatlisu who is no stranger to success over this C&D. Others to take a look at would be Duke Cosimo along with the Dalgleish pair Glengarry and Dark Defender who won on this card last year.
- Kenny The Captain
- Muscika
- Duke Cosimo
