Ran into a well-handicapped rival who won its next start when second at Yarmouth last time. Had previously been beaten a head under this jockey at the same course and has obvious claims with conditions and trip to suit.
Successful three times, including over C&D, last year, but two runs following his winter break have offered only limited encouragement. Remains 5lb higher than when last successful and may need a little more help from the handicapper.
Only win in nine starts came on the AW and two runs this season have not seen him in his best light. He is 3lb lower than well beaten at Nottingham last time and that, allied with first time cheekpieces, will need to have a positive effect for him to be competitive.
Has shown gradually-improved form since joining his current yard, culminating in last month's comfortable win at Yarmouth. A 3lb rise is not prohibitive, but that success came on soft ground and conditions are likely to be faster on this occasion.
Was delivered late to win at Salisbury in May, but two subsequent runs have been only respectable. Runs off the same mark so others make more appeal.
Had Kafoo well behind when third at Nottingham last time and is 1lb lower in this contest. However, her long losing streak stretches back to January, last year, and she seems slightly more effective on the AW.
Veteran of 125 races, four of whose six wins on turf have come at this track. Narrowly beaten at this course two outings ago, while a tardy start did not help last time. Has to be on the short list off only 1lb higher with conditions expected to suit and the step up in trip not an issue.
Forecasts
Swilly Sunset (6/5), Rustique (4/1), Carcharias (11/2), Intimately (8/1), Binky Blue (12/1), Welsh Inlet (14/1), Kafoo (20/1)
Most of these can be given a chance and it would be no surprise to see the evergreen Welsh Inlet add to his four previous course victories. Carcharias is another C&D winner who will have his supporters, while Kafoo could be galvanised by first-time cheekpieces, but the percentage call is top weight RUSTIQUE, who ran into a well-handicapped rival last time and has plenty going for him in his current vein of form.
- Rustique
- Welsh Inlet
- Kafoo
