Returned from 18 months off when winning a 2m4f Ayr conditional jockeys handicap hurdle (18/1) by 8L last month. That was just his second start for this yard (ex Jedd O'Keeffe trained), but he might have been a shade flattered with Late Date falling at the fourth last. However, a contender on less testing ground despite being upped 8lb.
Unbeaten in three starts at this track for Lucinda Russell, and this current trainer, and showed enough stamina over 2m6f in January to down Captain Clayton by ¾L. Beaten from this 5lb higher mark at Kelso last time, but this drop back to 2m4f on less testing ground looks ideal and definitely one for the shortlist.
Point-to-Point winner in December 2015, with 2m novice hurdles always likely to be on the sharp side this campaign. Likely to be seen in a better light over this trip, but needs to improve to take a hand. Market could be informative.
Twice a runner up over hurdles at Uttoxeter (2m7½f) and Ayr (2m4½f) before showing little verve for fences on his chasing debut at Uttoxeter in late January (latest run). Reverts back to hurdles from a rising mark (104), and was beaten at odds of 4/6 at Ayr from a 4lb lower mark, so on balance shouldn't be good enough.
Most likely to benefit for the run at Sedgefield earlier this month, which was her first in over a year since bounding home in a mares novices contest at Carlisle in February 2016, over just shy of this trip. Possibly on a fair mark, so one to note in the weeks ahead.
Hit by a 9lb rise after finishing second to Bako De La Saulaie at Kelso in early December, but was travelling well when departing at the fourth last in the race won by Vasco D'ycy at Ayr last month before possibly finding 2m6½f too far at Kelso recently. One to fill the frame at the very least if produced late.
No encouragement on the basis of her two starts over hurdles to date, but this looks a more realistic level than novice contests, and she does have plenty of stamina in her pedigree.

Old rivals Vasco D'ycy and Late Date renew battle, with the latter hoping to prove a point after crashing out when travelling well at the fourth last in the race won at Ayr by Julia Brooke's returning eight-year-old. However, RHYMERS STONE is unbeaten at this track in three races, and did well to win over 2m6f in January, and can be fancied to defy a 5lb higher mark, promising to be much better suited by dropping back to this 2m4f trip in an open looking contest.
