We run you through a decent weekend for the Sporting Life tipsters and report on a number of big wins for the punters.

Football winners

Not a bad weekend of football from our team with every Premier League piece published yielding profit including backing West Ham (draw no bet) to upset Manchester United on Saturday.

Eden Hazard scoring against Liverpool, Burnley beating Cardiff and Leicester winning away at Newcastle were all put forward by our football team.

Stay tuned for our midweek tips as another busy week of Champions League is upon us.

Near misses

We were just one booking away from a 10/1 RequestABet landing in Cardiff v Burnley, while Barry Douglas’ name was mud in the office as he wasted two great chances to score for Leeds after being put up in our EFL preview.

Punter wins £40K

One Sky Bet football punter grabbed a huge win over the weekend with a £5 bet staked on a 15 fold on the under/over 2.5 goals coupon coming in leading to an amazing return of £40,733.71.

You can tell your luck is in when even Cardiff score a goal to help you land the big prize and that's exactly what happened as Burnley's win in south Wales helped the big winner to such a memorable weekend.

However, it was one particular game in France which nearly scuppered the bet. Lille were winning just 1-0 with four minutes to play but a late double from Jonathan Bamba sealed a massive payout.

His inspired selections were (and well done if you've heard of half of them)...

  • Puerto Golfito v Municipal Turrialba
  • Zeljeznicar v GOSK Gabela
  • Canuelas v Club Porenir
  • FC Vale Formoso v Uniao de Leiria
  • Vitoria de Cernache v Sertanense
  • Lugano v Basel
  • Luzern v Sion
  • Krasnodar v Dynamo Moscow
  • Nacional de Madeira v Santa Clara
  • Oostende v Standard Liege
  • Sassuolo v AC Milan
  • Levante v Alaves
  • Lille v Marseille
  • Augsburg v Freiburg
  • Cardiff v Burnley

Followers of Ben Linfoot’s Value Bet selections enjoyed a successful weekend after our flagship racing tipster produced profits of 13.90pts from 4pts staked on Saturday.

The hugely popular column – published on site every Friday evening at 5pm – seeks to generate long-term profit by searching for overpriced horses in the feature weekend races, and at all the big Festivals, and he delivered with Alemaratalyoum scoring at Haydock this weekend.

Advised at 11/1, the well-backed selection scored narrowly having been sent off the 7/2 second-favourite under replacement jockey Joe Fanning.

Ben also recommended 1pt each-way on the Simon Crisford-trained 20/1 chance Mordin in the day’s major betting heat – the 33-runner bet365 Cambridgeshire at Newmarket – and he found just one too good to produce a tidy return.

Punters wins

Elsewhere, it was a Saturday never to be forgotten for one Sky Bet punter – namely Colin, from Preston – after he claimed precisely £4,969.44 from a winning four-fold accumulator across some of the key races at Newmarket and Haydock.

The £2 each-way multiple features Fairyland winning the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes, helping send Colin into dreamland.

Michelle from Keighley is even richer after bringing in £5,507.80 from a 20p Lucky 15 that included 25/1 and a whopping 100/1 winner.

Ben Coley was spot on with three daily tips during the Ryder Cup in Paris including Justin Thomas emerging as the USA's top scorer at an advised price of 4/1.

Webb Simpson was also put up as a 15/8 chance to beat Justin Rose, and duly obliged, while Europe to win Friday's foursomes turned out to be cracking bet - with Thomas Bjorn's men winning that sessions 4-0!
