Our gallops reporter has the latest from Andrew Balding's base, where a speedy juvenile might be ready to show what he can do on Saturday.
Andrew Balding has an ultra-consistent performer on his hands in FARLEIGH MAC, who is due to return to action at Newmarket on Saturday.
The gelding has been placed on his three most recent starts, having previously won at Windsor back in June.
He was a beaten odds-on favourite at Bath last time, but is always a willing worker and went well during his latest exercise on the grass with a recent winner.
REBEL STREAK is up there with the best of the juveniles at Kingsclere, having done everything but win in a hot race at Goodwood last time.
The speedily-bred colt, who represents the best of owner Jeff Smith's bloodlines, had to use valuable energy crossing from a poor draw and in the end was inched out by a 100/1 outsider in Thechildren'strust.
That was his second near-miss in a row and judging from the way he put paid to two stablemates in some work at Canon Down, it should not be long before he gains a deserved first success. Balding may well take him to the July Course on Saturday.
RELY ON ME has not managed to hit the target so far this year but is starting to look fairly handicapped and has a Saturday entry at Newmarket.
Her work in midweek was encouraging and it should not be long before she finds an opportunity.
SCORCHING HEAT is a strong traveller that needs producing late, as he showed when landing a valuable handicap on the final day of Glorious Goodwood.
He has come out of that race in good heart and although he has not done any strong work subsequently, he will be a force to be reckoned with in another handicap at one of the big meetings before the end of the month.
