Royal Ascot report: Hello Youmzain wins Diamond Jubilee for Kevin Ryan and Kevin Stott

Hello Youmzain (4/1) kept on finding to win the Diamond Jubilee and hand jockey Kevin Stott a dream first Group One winner at Royal Ascot.

The winner was fast out of the stalls and never far from the front as he repelled all challengers on his first start since the Champions Sprint here in October.

Third in the Commonwealth Cup at last year's Royal Ascot, Kevin Ryan's sprinter looked to be vulnerable heading to the furlong pole but he would not stop finding for his rider, and had enough in the locker to hold off the fast-finishing Dream Of Dreams (8/1).

Sceptical (2/1) had been sent off a short-priced favourite as Frankie Dettori went in search of a four-timer, but he was just run out of things and had to settle for third ahead of Khaadem for Jim Crowley.

Stott, visibly emotional as he weighed in, was also winning his first ever Royal Ascot race as well as his first Group One, having been handed back the ride aboard last year's Sprint Cup hero.

"Unbelievable," was Stott's response. "Fair play to the horse - all credit to him, more than me. I can't describe in words how thankful I am for (the owners) to put me back on him, it means everything.

"Kevin (Ryan) gave me a lot of confidence going out riding him. He said ride him as the best horse in the race; he dug deep when I needed him.

Stott, who was rejected by Tottenham when a promising 15-year-old footballer, paid tribute to his family including father Ken, who rode horses around the world.

"I'm pretty sure (my dad) is very delighted. My mum, my brothers as well - it's a dream come true, I'm just very happy.

"I'm glad Tottenham turned me down (for being too small) now!"

Stott and Ryan then saw a famous day become a dream one as they teamed up again to win the Wokingham with Hey Jonesy.

Again ridden positively by Stott, Hey Jonesy had to dig deep with the line approaching to hold on from the fast-finishing Summerghand.

"You can't describe it at all," said the young rider. "It's just amazing."

'It's really emotional'

Speaking from Cambridge Stud in New Zealand, owners Brendan and Jo Lindsay said: "This is the most amazing thing ever for us. We were so nervous, and we have been out for dinner tonight with some friends, and they are back home watching the race back home.

"I think it feels like half of New Zealand is up watching the race tonight the amount of phone calls and messages we have had! I don't know if any New Zealander has won a Group One at Royal Ascot before, it is just amazing.

"Thanks to Hubie de Burgh [agent] and thanks very much to Nicolas de Chambure, our partner in France.

"He will go to France first when he goes to stud and he will probably be here in June, July and August next year.

"It is really emotional, not a bad training effort either from Kevin Ryan. My goodness they deserve congratulations too."
