Fozzy Stack to bypass QIPCO British Champions Day

Son Of Rest is unlikely to take up his engagement in the Qipco British Champion Sprint at Ascot following his narrow defeat at Navan on Sunday.

Fozzy Stack's three-year-old looked a seriously exciting sprinter after winning his maiden at Cork and a handicap at the Curragh and was far from disgraced when third behind Caravaggio in the Flying Five Stakes a month ago.

He was favourite to return to winning ways in a Listed event at Navan, but was beaten a neck by Texas Rock.

Stack now feels the time is right to give his charge his winter break.

"He ran well and we'll probably leave him off for the year now," said the Cashel-based trainer.

"He is entered at Ascot, but I'd say that's unlikely unless one or two of the bigger names drop out between now and then.

"He'll be a better horse next year. He's only finding his stride."
