Gallops report from Newmarket

Our intrepid gallops watcher returns with news from Newmarket including Ulysses, Abingdon, Poet's Word more.

ULYSSES has the Juddmonte International in his sights after continuing his fine form for Sir Michael Stoute with a solid run in the King George.

Although no match for the filly Enable, the Niarchos Family-owned four-year-old kept on best of the rest to advertise his versatility.

He has worked pleasingly since the Ascot summer showpiece and connections do not see the drop back in trip to an extended 10 furlongs as a drawback.

On the contrary, Ulysses will revert to a few yards over the distance that he ran out the gamest of winners in the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.

ABINGDON didn't find things panning out for her in France last week, but this strapping filly will see better days.

Although she hasn't done much since that run, she could figure in the powerful team Stoute aims to take to York.

SUPERIORITYCOMPLEX, who is in the same ownership, looked a tad unlucky not to prevail at Windsor.

She is in again on the Chelmsford Polytrack next week and can soon gain a deserved first career success.

POET'S WORD showed his liking for the Goodwood undulations with a snug triumph at that course and Stoute may take him back there at the end of the month.
