We have selections from around the tracks on Monday, with the Nap coming on the card at Nottingham.
Vocal Studies is respected up 4lb for his stable debut win at Thirsk, while Westernesse could go well in the first-time visor, providing he doesn't mess up the start again, but BOY DOUGLAS looks the one to be backing in Ayr's mile handicap. He knows what's required here having won his novice over this course and distance in October 2022 and, having made the track just twice last term, he returned to action with a very encouraging second of 16 at Thirsk last month. The ground was quite quick that day but we know he handles cut in the ground and the assessor has taken a bit of a risk in nudging him up just the 1lb on the back of such a promising comeback.
Trainer Harry Eustace has had three winners in the past week or so and OH SO AUDACIOUS could be able to add her name to the list at Brighton. The mare struck gold here over this course and distance last summer on her third run of the 2023 campaign and she lines up on the back of two decent efforts so far this spring. Third time out might just be the time to catch her again now she's slipped back to a mark (51) just 1lb higher than when last successful.
An open-looking sprint handicap but it could be worth chancing the bottom weight TREFOR for Charlie Hills and Saffie Osborne. A winner here in novice company last August, he put in a very promising effort when second to Woodhay Wonder on his seasonal reappearance at Newmarket and although unable to build on that when fourth back at HQ last month, he just didn't seem to settle on that occasion and could be worth a pass. He still wasn't disgraced in fourth and his prominent tactics could be well suited to this track.
EMINENT JEWEL has had a truncated career to this point but trainer Richard Fahey must be happy with him again now and first time back could be the time to catch him as he's definitely ahead of the handicapper if able to reproduce the pick of his juvenile form, when second to Adaay In Devon at Carlisle in September. A switch to the all-weather didn't play out well at Lingfield in December but he's been given time off since then and can't have been right. Eased 2lb in the weights and with Oisin Orr up for the first time, there are enough positives to recommend a small interest.
