Midweek Money landed in Sporting Life Pick 7

Wednesday night's Pick 7 jackpot was landed after a flurry of favourites came home in front at Kempton's evening meeting.

The popular 'Midweek Money' round offered a £1,000 prize to the winner and there were still eight players going into the final leg with a chance of taking the spoils, with five cheering on Wolfcatcherjack and three on Zamadance.

The money poured in for Wolfcatcherjack on course and Sir Mark Prescott's handicap project delivered in good style under Luke Morris, winning by a length and a half.

That meant the tie-breaker question - the winning distance of the first race - was required to identify the jackpot winner and with two people correctly guessing the half-length verdict Mountain Peak secured in the Tamdown Nursery, the money was split between the pair.

Ed Walker's Mountain Peak, who was returned at an SP of 8/1, was the biggest-priced winner on the night and the only non-favourite to score, with Quargent (9/4), Elizabeth Bennet (6/4), First Dance (evens), Mudallel (100/30) and Mazyoun (100/30) - three of which were ridden by James Doyle - all justifying their places at the top of the betting.

The Pick 7 returns on Saturday with a massive £100,000 up for grabs and the game goes live at 1400 BST on Thursday.
