Man On The Spot: Saint-Cloud preview and tips for Tuesday

Don't miss the race-by-race verdicts and nap selection for Tuesday's meeting at Saint-Cloud, courtesy of resident tipster Man On The Spot.

10.10 (All times BST, live on Sky Sports Racing): The betting may offer clues as is the norm in races of this nature. Jockey bookings that take the eye include Pierre-Charles Boudot’s presence on Sealiway while Christophe Soumillon partners Dontellyourmother ahead of stablemate Spherical. Chiri Tsubaki, Choco Charly and Imperial Beauty are others to note but a chance is taken on XAARIO. The latter’s full brother went close on last year’s debut before winning and Pia Barndt’s grey may well have enough speed to figure with champion jockey Maxime Guyon doing the steering.

10.40: It’s something of a surprise to see SMART WHIP at this level having finished runner-up behind the useful stayer Mille Et Mille in Listed company at Nantes in October. He should be bang there at the finish while Cartes is another dropping down in class after finding one too good on the all-weather at Deauville last time. Attentionadventure has won under Cristian Demuro in the past and Vasy Sakhee is another facing an easier task though drops down in trip today. Viny and Mister Smart won on the all-weather in February but both look pretty exposed.

11.10: Plenty of guesswork needed with Westeros, a Kingman colt out of a Sea The Stars mare, preferred to Undark and Redshank of the three Fabre runners. But HURRICANE CLOUD is a Frankel colt related to winners including the smart Goken and Pascal Bary’s charge may prove the answer to this puzzle. Vasco Da Gama is a E300,000 purchase worthy of consideration while Dream Works, Roble and Whaze are others to note in the betting.

11.40: Another field of newcomers and Andre Fabre introduces both the $1m purchase Joyous Sounds and the Coolmore-owned Rose D'etoile. Maxime Guyon rides Metaphore for his retainers and Hurrym is related to a Listed winner among others while Gellhorn is worth a second glance sporting Khalid Abdullah’s colours. The Lope De Vega fillies Via Liguria and PERHAPS should both appreciate today’s mile trip with the speculative vote going to the latter representing a yard in fine form before racing was suspended and partnered by Christophe Soumillon.

12.10: Jaayiz was winning earlier in the year but has been done no favours by the draw and the latter comment also applies to both Menthe Pastille and Al Jaroud. Pierre-Charles Boudot partnered Lady Walli to victory here last year but sticks with the unexposed SUNBEAM today and the latter gets a tentative vote in first-time headgear despite stablemate Bring The Action winning at Machecoul back in March. Canada, Circle Of Hands, Dream Life and Mantega are others with a chance of sorts in something of a lottery.

12.50: Kylhead looks to have every chance on his victory at Chantilly in March when beating several of these. Arifushi finished closest to the former in third and can figure again but HABLOVILLE may edge this. She was having her first start since September when beaten less than a length in a handicap at Chantilly in February and has plenty of scope for further improvement. Prince Hamlet should be at home at this level while Inattendu beat El Caliente on the all-weather back in November but the likes of Axcelerator, Singasoumi and Saga Timgad have something to prove in this grade.

13.25: SOSOFT (NAP) won a maiden at Longchamp before finishing second at Chantilly on his handicap debut in October and there should be plenty more to come from him this year. Glenorchy was in good form on the all-weather at Chantilly earlier in the year while Truco also scored at the latter track in November. Asterios has drawn wide while Mr Bold won a lower grade handicap in February and several of these were beaten less than a length last time including Mister Charlie, Masetto, The Big Smoke and Dassom.

14.00: Both Dawn Intello and Alfareeq won on the all-weather at Deauville when last in action and Port Guillaume is unbeaten in a couple of outings at Cagnes-Sur-Mer for Jean-Claude Rouget’s powerful yard. Green Spirit scored in heavy going at Deauville back in October while Mare Australis made a winning debut in November when successful at Munich and has been switched to Andre Fabre’s yard subsequently. ENZEL may not have beaten much when scoring over a slightly shorter trip here on his debut but couldn’t have done it any easier and could be anything. He gets the vote to make a winning return.

14.35: VIENNE won nicely at Compiegne in October when beating the re-opposing Gemcutter thee lengths. This extra distance shouldn’t be a problem and the Rouget filly can confirm running in this. Anobar is more exposed but placed in Listed company over a mile here in March while Irska made a winning debut on the all-weather at Chantilly in the same month and should also go well with normal progress. Gelinka found only the favourite too good on the Polytrack at Deauville last time and is preferred to the newcomers of the remainder.

15.10: Several drop in class but Babar hasn’t raced since last summer and Oyambre is preferred on these terms. Blue Blue Eyes could go well for the Rouget yard but MADE TO LEAD was placed in Listed company last year and need only run up to the same level to land this with Soumillon’s presence another positive. Allez Henri and Banoush will find life more difficult in this having both won lower grade claimers.

15.40: Stelvio won a amateurs’ claimer here in March with his rider claiming 9lb while Glory Maker will be sharper for an outing at Deauville in the same month. Terre De France drops down in class and is preferred to Fry while YOUMDOR was thereabouts in handicaps at Chantilly earlier in the year. Beaten less than a length last time, Freddie Head’s charge is taken to go one better in this. Volynka finished well behind the selection in March and has drawn out wide today along with You Rock.
