Injured jockey Leighton Aspell out of Aintree Grand National

Dual Grand National-winning rider Leighton Aspell will miss this year's Aintree feature after damaging his neck in a fall at Hereford last week.

Aspell, successful on Pineau De Re in 2014 and Many Clouds the following year, faces at least six weeks on the sidelines following his tumble from the Oliver Sherwood-trained Jurby at the sixth flight in a novices' hurdle over two miles, five and a half furlongs.

"He's going to be out for about six weeks. He's got to be in a neck brace for six weeks," said Sherwood.

"There's nothing displaced. He's not in any pain, there's no operation, it's just time."
