Joseph Tuite making plans for German Derby fifth Surrey Thunder

Joseph Tuite, trainer of the much-travelled Surrey Thunder, is considering a run on home turf next after his fifth place in last week's Group One Deutsches Derby at Hamburg.

The three-year-old has run only twice on English soil in his career, having contested races in both France and Germany for the entirety of this season so far.

Plans for his next run remain fluid, as Tuite consults the sizeable syndicate which owns the horse before committing to a definite target.

"We haven't decided where we'll go next - it's up in the air," said the Lambourn trainer.

"He arrived back from Germany - and he's fine and sound after his run, but he'll need some time to recover from the journey."

The colt is owned by Surrey Racing, for whom he has won or been placed on all six of his runs.

"I need to ask the members of the syndicate, but we'd like to run in England first and then possibly France," added Tuite.

"Then it's the autumn, but we know he copes with soft ground."
