Tom George pleased to see Summerville Boy form boosted

Tom George was pleased to see Summerville Boy's Sky Bet Supreme claims boosted bu Kalashnikov's win in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury.

Amy Murphy's stable star took the competitive Betfair Hurdle in great style having previously filled the runner-up spot behind Summerville Boy in the Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown.

"It gives his form a solid look and our horse will definitely enjoy a bit better ground than it was at Sandown - it's not like he needs heavy ground," said George.

"The two races he's had at Cheltenham were more of a learning process, he needed to learn to settle and everything else. He needs a strongly-run race and the first time he got it was in the Tolworth.

"The other two races were good for him to learn but they weren't much good for him at the time. You'd think he will surely get the strong pace he needs in the Supreme."

Summerville Boy is 16/1 with the sponsors (non-runner/no bet and Best Odds Guaranteed) for the Sky Bet Supreme.

George has yet to make a decision over which race Black Op, incidentally by the same unheralded sire as Summerville Boy in Sandmason, runs in at Cheltenham next month.

The Ballymore Novices' Hurdle and the Albert Bartlett are his options at the Festival after going down narrowly to Santini last time out.

"We haven't ruled out either race. I know the game is about jumping but it wasn't even the mistake he made which cost him last time, it was that he lost his hind legs after the hurdle," said George.

"The mistake was bad enough but to then lose his hind legs after, it cost him more. He's another that will prefer better ground and he's obviously going the right way quickly.

"I think he'll stay three miles, he's got a very big stride on him and is a serious galloper. I think we'll just wait and see nearer the time and see how everything is panning out.

"Roger Brookhouse owns them both and they are both by the same stallion, Sandmason. I don't think he's had another winner all year but he's got two good ones for me."
