Fran Berry tips for Dundalk including Distant Vista

Fran Berry picks out his best bets on this evening's card at Dundalk, with a Johnny Murtagh-trained handicap newcomer catching the eye.

More seriously competitive stuff at Dundalk tonight but DISTANT VISTA looks a good bet around the 4/1 mark in division one of the Christmas Party Packages At Dundalk Stadium Nursery Handicap.

The gelding caught the eye on his first go on the all-weather over course and distance at the end of last month and that looked quite a decent maiden. He's now shown an aptitude for the track, has a good draw and what looks a workable opening mark (72).

The visor goes on for the first time and Colin Keane has been booked to ride so everything looks in place for an improved effort. I used to ride for the owner occasionally on the likes of Al Eile (for those with a good memory) and it'll be nice to see the colours back in the winners' circle.

There are some short prices in the maidens and in all honestly Royal Highness should be really hard to beat. She's looking a bit exposed now but has three course runs have been good and the mile trip looks to have just been catching her out the last twice.

Dropping back to seven furlongs can do the trick.

I'm prepared to let Assurance run and win in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden, but Ozone warrants support in the Crown Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Handicap.

Joseph O'Brien's son of Camelot is pretty short in the betting for a race of this type but he shaped well over hurdles at Gowran recently and has some pretty smart Flat form on the turf earlier in the year. This looks a great opportunity.

I wouldn't put anyone off a small saver on Trump Card at a big price in the same race as the run last time might just have been needed.

Alfredo Arcano could prove a class act in the Happy Christmas From All At Dundalk Stadium Handicap.

He's been shaping up like a return to form has been imminent and his trainer David Marnane has a winner just the other day. The five-year-old would probably need to win tonight if a trip to Dubai is realistic this time around but that looks on the cards as he's slipped 1lb below his last winning mark in April.
