Eqtiraan wins Cathedral Stakes for Richard Hannon

Eqtiraan claimed a first Listed success with a game triumph in the British Stallion Studs EBF Cathedral Stakes at Salisbury.

Trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Jim Crowley, the gelded son of Helmet (4/1) did really well to reel in Mythmaker and get the verdict by a nose.

Hannon's assistant trainer Tom Ward told Racing UK: "We thought a lot of him last year but we've been trying to figure him out a little bit as he's just been a bit tricky.

"He's got a lot of speed and he's done it well in the end. That gives us plenty of options and some nice Group races later in the year, hopefully."

The Hannon team were winning the Cathedral Stakes for a sixth time in the last 10 years.
