VERDICT

The Sky Bet Lowther Stakes (1.55) gets proceedings under way on day two of the Ebor Festival and this has generally been a race to focus on those towards the head of betting, in fact eight of the last ten winners returned 11/2 or shorter, all of which came from the first three in the market.

A fairly recent run has also been a positive, with eight of the last winners doing so having ran within the previous 36 days – a negative for supporters of Fairyland, who hasn’t been seen since finishing a close-up third in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot 62 days ago.

Three or more career starts (8/10), competing at Royal Ascot (7/10) and winning last time out (8/10) are further trends which have proven prudent to follow.

With all things considered, the stand-out selection from a trends perspective is John Gosden’s ANGEL'S HIDEAWAY. Second behind subsequent Prix Morny winner Pretty Pollyanna in the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes, she made no mistake confirming herself an above-average type by taking the Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot 26 days ago. She’s an improving filly for powerful connections and possesses all the right credentials to get her head in front again.
