Ben Woodburn emerged as the last-gasp hero as Wales warmed up for the start of their 2020 European Championship campaign with a 1-0 friendly victory over Trinidad and Tobago in Wrexham.
Woodburn struck from close range as the game ticked into stoppage time, the Liverpool teenager chesting home Will Vaulks' cross for his second Wales goal.
Manager Ryan Giggs will be grateful for the win - his fourth from his 10 games - as Wales head into a tournament that the former Manchester United star says will define his time in charge.
Opta stats
- Since losing 0-1 to Costa Rica in February 2012, Wales are now unbeaten in their first match of a calendar year in each of the last seven years, winning five whilst drawing the other two.
- This was Wales’ first match at the Racecourse Ground since a 3-0 victory over Norway back in February 2008 under John Toshack. Indeed, including their victory tonight, the Dragons are now unbeaten in their last five matches in Wrexham (W4 D1).
- This was Ryan Giggs’ second victory on home soil since he took over as Wales boss, in what was his fourth such match in charge, stopping a run of back-to-back defeats.
- Of players to start the match for both sides, only Trinidad and Tobago’s Levi Garcia maintained a 100% passing accuracy rate, completing each of his 16 passes before being substituted in the 60th minute.
- Wales quartet George Thomas, Lee Evans, Ryan Hedges and Will Vaulks all made their first ever starts for their country against Trinidad and Tobago, with Vaulks becoming the eleventh debutant for Wales under manager Ryan Giggs.
- Ben Woodburn’s winner was his second ever goal for Wales, with both goals for his country coming in 1-0 victories at home (also 1-0 v Austria in September 2017).
Germany held at home to Serbia

Leon Goretzka came off the bench to equalise as Germany snatched a 1-1 draw with Serbia in their international friendly in Wolfsburg.
Joachim Low's new-look side, who begin their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign against Holland this weekend, needed time to warm up after falling behind to a 12th-minute Luka Jovic header.
It was not until the second half that Germany began to threaten regularly and Goretzka levelled on 69 minutes after combining with fellow substitute Marco Reus.
Serbia lost their discipline in the closing minutes and Milan Pavkov was shown a straight red card in stoppage-time for a horrendous challenge on Manchester City's Leroy Sane. Boss Low said after that his injury is not serious and that he should be fit to face Netherlands on Sunday.
BREAKING: @DFB_Team_EN head coach Joachim Low says Leroy Sane's injury against Serbia "not too serious" and should be fit to play Netherlands on Sunday.
