Arsene Wenger was given a guard of honour by both Arsenal and Huddersfield players before his last game in charge at the John Smith's Stadium.
Wenger, taking charge of his final game as Arsenal manager, was given a rousing reception by both sets of fans in a carnival atmosphere.
Arsenal and Huddersfield fans alike saluted the 68-year-old Frenchman as he walked over to acknowledge the away end.
Huddersfield boss David Wagner made a special presentation on behalf of the West Yorkshire club in the tunnel before kick-off.
The Terriers are celebrating Premier League survival, secured on Wednesday after a 1-1 draw at Chelsea, while Wenger's final game is his 1.235th in charge.
A plane flew over the John Smith's Stadium, carrying a message for Wenger.
"Merci Arsene, we will miss you too," it read in response to Wenger's goodbye speech last week.
Then, after 22 minutes, the entire stadium rose as one to applaud Wenger - marking his 22 year-tenure - with chants of "there's only one Arsene Wenger" also springing up throughout the pockets of home support as well as the entire away end.

The Frenchman stood up in his technical area to wave back to those who were showing their respects to his achievements.
Wenger was celebrating when January signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put the Gunners ahead in the 38th minute, sliding in to convert Aaron Ramsey's cross.
While support for Wenger came from all four corners of the stadium, as well as from the skies above Huddersfield, another plane passed over in the closing stages.
This one was pointedly aimed at Arsenal majority shareholder Stan Kroenke and simply read: "Kroenke, you're next".
Wenger admitted the day had been "emotional".
"To be a happy day we had to win it," he added on Sky Sports. "In the end the boys wanted to deliver a win and we got it. But it was a nice day, for Huddersfield as well. It was all together today, they could celebrate staying up."
Asked if he was relieved it was all over, Wenger said: "Relief no, I am sad. I wish everybody well and thank everybody. The fans have been great until the end.
"I just want to wish this group of players well and the staff who are coming in. I will remain an Arsenal fan above all.
"I see a bright future for my successor because the team has a good attitude and has quality. We need two or three additions and after that I believe the team will compete for the Premier League."
