Jamie Vardy joins the 100 club: Vardy is one of a list of 29 players to score 100 Premier League goals

It's a footballing fairytale we already know all about, but Jamie Vardy reaching 100 Premier League goals really is an amazing achievement. He's keeping some elite company.

Vardy already achieved a slice of history simply by making it to Leicester, as he became the first £1million signing from a non-league side, and he's gone on to become one of the most deadly strikers around on his day.

He famously fired the Foxes to their thrilling Premier League title and also broke Ruud van Nistelrooy's record of scoring in consecutive league games during that campaign.

Stuck on 99 league goals during the break and Leicester's stuttering start post-shutdown, Vardy eventually broke into three figures against Crystal Palace.

His century comes in just 206 games and, what's more, he's the second oldest centurion to make his Premier League debut. Vardy first took part in a Premier League games aged 27 years and 232 days, with only Ian Wright older (28 years 286 days).

"It's a phenomenal achievement to come into the Premier League at such a late stage and be so prolific in such a short space of time. It's a privilege to work with such a top striker," said his Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers.

"His story is unique when you think about what he has achieved and what he has done. His story, and continuous story, will always be an inspiration.

"It's been hard for him recently as he hasn't had too many chances and I had a chat with him yesterday. His work-rate is incredible and he never gives defenders a minute's peace and chases down lost causes and we saw that again today.

"I'm very fortunate that he's here, but it was a real collective effort today."
