New Group Bets format: The Sporting Life team give their Saturday selections for their Group Bet

Take a look at the picks from the Sporting Life team as they embark on week 17 of their Group Bet campaign, a new way to bet on football at Sky Bet.

Our football team have created their own group and if you want to do the same, all you have to do is set one up and invite your friends before building an accumulator together.

Once all group players have chipped in with their selection, you can choose whether you want to back it as an accumulator or take out a leg of the bet, in case you think one of your mates has thrown in a dodgy choice.

Week 16 Reaction:

George Pitts attained his first win in eight as Barnsley saw off Wycombe, although they made hard work of it in the end. Ben Linfoot earned his third win in succession and fifth win in seven as MK Dons won away at Carlisle 3-2. Linfoot is the form man in the Sporting Life Group Bet team, and could really do with passing his advice on to Billy Lumsden, who suffered an eighth consecutive defeat as Preston drew 0-0 with Nottingham Forest.

Ipswich scored late to earn a point against Stoke but it was not enough for Tom Carnduff to get a win, yet he stays at the top of the pile due to his recent form. Here are the current Sporting Life Group Bet standings:

  1. Tom Carnduff: W-W-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-W-L-W-W-W-L (18 PTS)
  2. Ben Linfoot: W-L-W-L-W-W-W (15 PTS)
  3. George Pitts: W-L-L-L-W-L-W-W-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-W (12 PTS)
  4. Billy Lumsden: L-W-L-L-L-L-L-W-L-L-L-L-L-L-L-L (6 PTS)
  5. Paul Higham: L-W-L-L-L-L-L-W (6 PTS)
  6. Chris Hammer: L-L (0 PTS)

Check out Sporting Life's Group Bet for Saturday's Premier League and EFL action, which is made up of four selections from the team:

Billy Lumsden: Middlesbrough (to beat QPR) - 4/5

Tony Pulis' side have only the solitary loss in their last eight Sky Bet Championship encounters and have posted impressive away wins at West Brom and Blackburn recently. They sit in fifth in the table and are well in the hunt for an automatic promotion place if they can continue their good form in this clash. QPR have suffered six losses in a row so it is a prime time for Middlesbrough to play them.

George Pitts: Mansfield (to beat Forest Green) - 13/10

After back-to-back away defeats in Sky Bet League Two, Mansfield will be itching to bounce back in this top of the table fixture. Mansfield have won their last three home league matches and only have one loss in 10 in front of their home crowd (W7, D2). They are up against a Forest Green side who only have one win from four, so I expect to see Mansfield continuing to occupy the automatic promotion spot after the game.

Tom Carnduff: Bristol Rovers and Sunderland (Draw) - 11/5

Sunderland remain firmly in the hunt for automatic promotion with just two losses to their name this season, but they have been drawing far too many games and they should see another here. Bristol Rovers have also seen the points shared in recent weeks with three of their last four ending in draws. Rovers have also lost just one of their last six games at home, showing that despite their league position, they are a tough side to beat.

Ben Linfoot: Leicester and Crystal Palace (Draw) - 23/10

There is little between 12th and 13th in the Premier League and Crystal Palace have drawn two of their last three. Leicester have struggled for goals in recent games and this looks another likely tight affair with few chances between two sides of similar ability.

FOUR-FOLD ODDS: 42.7/1 with Sky Bet
