Shrewsbury missed the chance to go back to the top of the Sky Bet League One table as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Northampton.

Shay Facey’s first-half goal gave the Cobblers a surprise lead but Jon Nolan struck midway through the second period to send Shrewsbury home with a point.

Fleetwood boosted their survival hopes with a 2-0 win at fellow strugglers Rochdale.

Paddy Madden broke the deadlock for the visitors in the 63rd minute with substitute Jordy Hiwula making sure of the result with a goal a minute from time.

The result saw the Cod Army move two points clear of the relegation zone, where Rochdale remained – six points from safety.

Sky Bet League Two review

Exeter boosted their bid for promotion from Sky Bet League Two with a 1-0 victory at struggling Port Vale.

Jordan Storey's goal was enough for the Grecians, who have climbed up to sixth in the standing.

Jordan Bowery hit a double as Crewe secured a 3-1 victory over Forest Green.

Bowery edged Crewe ahead with a set-piece header just before the break and added to his tally after the break during a three-goal flurry inside five minutes, which saw Charlie Kirk double the Cheshire side’s lead, only for Dale Grubb to reduce the arrears.

Morecambe and Colchester shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Globe Arena.

A game of low quality produced few chances and ended with both teams having to settle for a point.
