Manchester United returned to winning ways and consolidated their grip on second in the Premier League by claiming a 2-0 win against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
Chris Smalling continued his run of form in front of goal on his 150th Premier League appearance, finding the net for the third consecutive away game with the opener on 28 minutes.
Substitute Romelu Lukaku then wrapped up the points with United's second on 70 minutes as Jose Mourinho's side warmed up for Saturday's FA Cup semi-final with Tottenham in style.
United are the 5/4 outsiders with Sky Bet to progress from that tie and reach the FA Cup final.
Tottenham are odds-on at 5/4 to get through.
David de Gea strengthened his claim for this season's Golden Glove award with a 17th clean sheet - the highest tally of his career - although it could have been different had Luke Shaw's goal-preventing challenge on Callum Wilson been punished.
With Sunday's title-deciding defeat to West Brom clearly on United minds, Bournemouth started brightly and created the first opening inside 11 minutes, Jordon Ibe dragging a shot wide from the edge of the area.
It took 27 minutes for the visitors to register an effort on target, Marcus Rashford drawing a decent save from Asmir Begovic after robustly dispossessing Nathan Ake on the right-hand touchline.
But Begovic's resolve was broken a minute later when Ander Herrera's divine pass released Jesse Lingard in behind the Bournemouth defence, and he squared for Smalling to tap home.
United went on to dominate the rest of the first period but had De Gea to thank for preserving their lead as Josh King's rasping shot was parried clear before half-time.
Bournemouth pushed for an equaliser early in the second period and felt they should have had a penalty on 56 minutes when Shaw appeared to impede Wilson as he tried to convert King's cross.
But referee Graham Scott deemed the left-back's challenge legal, and United made the most of their reprieve as Lukaku, eight minutes after coming off the bench, lifted the decisive second over Begovic at the end of a Paul Pogba-led counter.
Post-match reaction
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho admitted the performance has left him with a selection headache ahead of the FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham.
"It was a good team performance - professional, controlled, good effort, good responsibility," he said.
"The first ambition was to finish in the top four and we now need one point, maximum two. When we have that result we can think about second (place).
"I would say that every player on the pitch was positive and put himself available for Saturday."
Bournemouth are now four games without a win and have three matches left to secure a top-half finish.
Manager Eddie Howe said: "I thought we were OK in large spells tonight and I'm pretty pleased with the performance.
"We had our chances so it's a frustrating defeat."
