Fantasy Football tips and advice: Transfers and captains for Gameweek 30

Premier League Fantasy Football expert Tom Carnduff has his tips and advice for the latest gameweek, including the best transfers to make and captains to choose.

The last international break of the season presented many with the opportunity to plan what their fantasy football teams will look like for the remainder of the campaign.

For most teams in the Premier League, just nine games remain and that means time is rapidly running out for those looking to close gaps in any mini-leagues.

Transfers at this point need to be spot on, while there is also the possibility of making some 'braver' decisions in the hope that they pay off to provide points that others don't have.

Ahead of gameweek 30, Tom Carnduff picks out three players to consider for this week and the future.

Should I transfer Mason Mount into my fantasy football team?

  • Position: Midfielder
  • Sky cost: 8.6
  • FPL cost: 7.0
Liverpool suffered a fifth successive competitive home defeat for the first time in their history
Mason Mount has been in great form for both Chelsea and England

A popular pick last season given his cheap price and Mason Mount remains a value pick given his regular role and impact in this Chelsea side.

Even with Frank Lampard leaving and Thomas Tuchel coming in as his replacement, Mount has established himself as a preferred option in the attacking midfield area. While every Blues player has been open to rotation, Mount is clearly a starting XI player.

The 22-year-old has netted three goals since the managerial change and posted 21 shots his last nine Premier League outings. He also enjoyed a successful international break with England as he scored in the 2-0 win away at Albania in their World Cup qualifier.

Now is the time to load up on Chelsea players if you haven't done so already. Their fixtures in the immediate future should see them continue their fine run of results under Tuchel and value is on offer across the pitch.

The Blues face West Brom this weekend with Crystal Palace and Fulham to come in two of their three games after. Back-to-back games against the Baggies and Palace sees Mount come up against two defences that have combined for 104 goals conceded this season.

A popular selection? He's in that range where it's hard to work out. 17.22% of Sky players have him while his selection rate on FPL is 14.8%. Mount should be in more teams though, and his upcoming fixtures combined with Chelsea's superb form will surely bring points.

Should I transfer Kai Havertz into my fantasy football team?

  • Position: Midfielder
  • Sky cost: 9.9
  • FPL cost: 8.2
Chelsea's Kai Havertz
Kai Havertz is returning to his best under Thomas Tuchel's guidance

This feels a risky option, but at this stage of the season, Kai Havertz could be a great player to bring in if you are after potential differentials to make up places in any leagues.

Havertz's start to life at Chelsea has been mixed but he has looked good in recent weeks under Tuchel's guidance. They may opt to go with him as a centre forward in the future but he can play in one of the two attacking midfield slots behind Tammy Abraham, Olivier Giroud or Timo Werner.

Returning from injury, Havertz got an assist to go alongside a man of the match performance against Everton and then hit four shots in the 0-0 draw with Leeds. His performance against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League also gave hope to him returning to his best.

Havertz is an expensive option and will take up a fair bit of budget. However, because of that, there is the huge potential of points on offer that others won't have. He was Chelsea's marquee summer signing and one of Tuchel's big tasks will be to get him playing well - it should mean regular involvement from now until the end of the season.

It could be a gamble that pays off. 5.79% of Sky players have Havertz while the selection rate is a much lower 2.8% on FPL. Chelsea have hit Manchester City levels when it comes to starting XI roulette, but Havertz's recent performances should see him playing the majority of the remaining games.

Should I transfer Jesse Lingard into my fantasy football team?

  • Position: Midfielder
  • Sky cost: 7.2
  • FPL cost: 6.2
Jesse Lingard after scoring for West Ham
Jesse Lingard has been a hit since joining West Ham in January

A popular player on the FPL game but one that continues to go under the radar on Sky. His 15.5% selection rate on FPL is much higher than the 2.81% on Sky.

This international break is the last chance to really plan ahead for the remainder of the season and West Ham's fixtures, alongside their own form, should see them finish the season in strong fashion.

They face Wolves this weekend, but have fixtures against Brighton, Burnley, Newcastle, Southampton and West Brom before the end of the campaign.

Lingard has five goals and three assists in seven Premier League appearances for the Hammers and his form led to a recall to the England side for the latest set of international fixtures. For fantasy football, his recent showings are too good to ignore.

His price tag is also a big positive when it comes to bringing in Lingard. 7.2 on Sky also gets you Brighton's Steven Alzate and Sheffield United's Sander Berge, while Liverpool's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Manchester United's Donny van de Beek are more expensive options on the FPL game.
