Mauricio Pochettino is still waiting to make a dent in the transfer market this summer, but insists Tottenham are still in the market for quality players.
Many are pointing to the club moving to their new stadium as the reason why Spurs haven’t yet made a first team summer signing, but Pochettino says he knows the importance of adding quality to his squad.
Spurs are 14/1 shots to win the Premier League this season, with a combination of the new stadium and lack of signings meaning they could be at risk of taking a backward steps this season.
Tottenham were one of the most represented sides at the World Cup and had nine players involved in the semi-finals in Russia who are yet to return for pre-season training.
Having so many players with possible World Cup fatigue only adds to Tottenham’s need for new players, something Pochettino accepts even if he is yet to make a signing.
“I’m not going to talk about targets, I’m not going to talk about names, we’ll see what happens in the next few weeks,” said Pochettino.
“You can say we need to sign there or there maybe, but with or without injuries our target after we finished last season was always to add some players with quality that can help us achieve all that we want.”

Tottenham have not even been mentioned too often in the transfer rumours that always circulate in the summer, with Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish the only player they’re odds-on to sign before the window closes.
Pochettino, though, is trying to remain relaxed about the situation and is preparing to go with the squad he has.
"You need to be relaxed, working hard. My focus is trying to help the team and develop the way we want to play and arrive in the best condition to start the season.
"Nothing's going to change if I changed my behaviour or the way I act."

Pochettino laughed off the link of a Gareth Bale return to Tottenham, with him instead looking at how his young players have impressed in pre-season in the absence of their World Cup stars.
"I am so happy with the young ones. Luke Amos has played the most and then Oliver Skipp," he said.
"A lot of the younger ones have the possibility to show their quality. I am so happy with them. I think they are players that still need to grow."
