Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle to release Mesut Ozil from his contract, with the midfielder set to join Turkish club Fenerbahce.
The 32-year-old has not played for the Gunners since March and his £350,000-a-week deal was set to expire at the end of the season.
Both parties have all-but agreed to tear up the final months of his contract.
It had long been expected that Ozil would leave in January; moves to both Major League Soccer and Fenerbahce have been a heavy odds-on at different points since the transfer window opened.
And the German openly stated his desire during a Twitter question and answer session on January 12.
"There are two countries I want to play football in before I retire: Turkey and USA. If I went to Turkey, I could only go to Fenerbahce," he said.
A World Cup winner with Germany in 2014, Ozil won the FA Cup three times during his time with Arsenal, although he was not a part of their most recent success under Mikel Arteta in August.
He also helped the Gunners reach the final of the 2019 Europa League, where they were heavily beaten by Chelsea.
