Jose Mourinho heavy odds-on to leave Manchester United before Paul Pogba

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho finds himself at 1/6 to leave the club before star man Paul Pogba.

A 3-1 defeat to West Ham in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off piled further pressure on Mourinho, with his side sitting just inside the top-half of the Premier League standings.

Speculation surrounded the future of the current boss after successive defeats to Tottenham and Brighton, but his team responded with victories over Burnley and Watford.

However, losses to the Hammers and Derby County in the Carabao Cup in the last five days have led to more calls for the former Chelsea and Real Madrid man to go.

Footage then emerged of the pair having an argument in training, around 12 hours after they were dumped out of the cup by the Sky Bet Championship side.

Mourinho recently stripped the midfielder of the vice-captaincy at the club, but denied that there was a rift between the two.

  • Jose Mourinho to leave Man Utd before Paul Pogba - 1/6
  • Paul Pogba to leave Man Utd before Jose Mourinho - 7/2

Asked about the relationship after the defeat to Derby, Mourinho told Sky Sports: "The only truth is that I made the decision of Paul not to be the second captain any more but no fall-out, no problems at all.

"The same person that decides that Paul is not the second captain anymore is the same person who decides that Paul was the second captain. Myself. I am the manager, I can make these decisions.

"No fall-out at all, no problems at all, just one decision that I don't have to explain."

Rio Ferdinand has called for a decision to be made at Manchester United to stop the "wars" within the club.

The former United defender stopped short of saying Mourinho should go, but did tell BT Sport: "It's difficult to say that (it's the end game) but I believe the powers that be have a decision to make.

"You can't let a situation like this continue through the season, things leaking out in the press, little wars going on within the changing room that are creeping out and everyone finding out about it, players on one side maybe, Mourinho on the other.

"If that continues, it'll be one of the worst seasons in the history of the club. Someone has to make a decision right now, bang, either someone goes... Something's got to give."
