Pogba meets with Barcelona

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba
Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is 8/1 to join Barcelona this summer

This could be a blockbuster if there's any truth in the report in Tuttosport that Paul Pogba met with Barcelona technical director and fellow Frenchman Eric Abidal in America to discuss a possible move to the Spanish champions.

Jose Mourinho has hardly been glowing in his praise of Pogba's World Cup exploits and there's growing talk of unrest between the two given how the midfielder was deployed at Old Trafford last season. Interest from the Spanish giants and the chance to play alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez could be a tempting prospect for Pogba, who could fill the midfield void left by Andres Iniesta at Barca.

Pogba is currently 8/1 to join Barcelona this summer.

Bayern rule out Pavard move

France right back Benjamin Pavard won the World Cup and goal of the tournament in Russia but has not won a move to German champions Bayern Munich after they ruled out a move for the Stuttgart man. There's a real sense that Pavard will join a bigger club this summer but Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says it won't be them despite the club being prepared to let Jerome Boateng leave.

Bayern will listen to the right offer for Boateng, with PSG keen, but Rummenigge added to Bild that they did not hold an interest with plenty of defensive options available even if Boateng departs for Paris.

Rummenigga said: "Could Benjamin Pavard replace Boateng in Bayern? No. We have Hummels, Sule, Martinez who can play in central defence, Alaba and two young players, Lukas Mai and Chris Richards. There are many qualities."

Arsenal to miss out on N'Zonzi

Arsenal have been on the hunt for Sevilla midfielder Steven N'Zonzi most of the summer, but Gazzetta dello Sport say that Roma are closing in on the 29-year-old, who won the World Cup with France in Russia this summer.

He's now 1/2 to sign for the Italian side with a fee of around £40m being mooted in the papers, while Arsenal are a distant 6/1 shot to bring the former Blackburn and Stoke man back to the Premier League.

Modric on the move?

They've already lost Cristiano Ronaldo but could Real Madrid now lose Luka Modric as well? Inter Milan have reportedly been in touch with the Croatian schemer's agent over a possible move to Italy. The 32-year-old won the Champions League again with the Spanish side last season and was the star of the World Cup in Russia.

He's been a key member of the real Madrid team over the last few years but could new coach Julen Lopetegui be prepared to let him leave as he looks to the future?

Done deal: Everton sign Lucas Digne

Everton have got the drone out to mark the arrival of French defender Lucas Digne from Barcelona for around £18m.

Rondon move to Newcastle stalls

Newcastke are still chasing West Brom's Salomon Rondon as a replacement for Alexsandar Mitrovic but talks between the two clubs have stalled, according to Sky Sports News. Rondon has a release clause of around £16m but Newcastle prefer a loan swap deal with Dwight Gayle heading to the Hawthorns.

The Baggies aren't p laying ball though and with them close to starting their Championship campaign they prefer to try and keep Rondon to help with their bid to bounce back into the Premier League. Rondon is still, however, 1/4 to join Newcastle before deadline day.

Liverpool to get rid of Mignolet & Karius?

Alisson's arrival means Liverpool have their new number one goalkeeper but what about the two men left sat behind the Brazilian? Simon Mignolet has been linked with Barcelona but Loris Karius did look like he could remain as back-up to the former Roma man. However, reports now say Liverpool will look to offload both keepers for a fresh start.

Mourinho still missing Martial

The Anthony Martial situation seems to be getting worse for Manchester United, with Jose Mourinho now saying he's not sure where the Frenchman is after he left their pre-season tour of America to attend the birth of his child.

"I don't know," said Mourinho when asked about Martial's return. "Anthony Martial? Is better for [press officer] Karen to answer if she wants to answer." Martial is still 4/6 to stay at Manchester United, but Chelsea (7/2) and Tottenham (11/2) are strongly interested in the 22-year-old.

Stoke expect Butland to stay

Stoke boss Gary Rowett is confident England goalkeeper Jack Butland will remain at Stoke and try to help them back into the Premier League. The club insist they've not yet received any firm offers for the 25-year-old despite previous interest from Liverpool and Chelsea.

"I expect him to stay, I hope he stays," said Rowett. "I'm also pragmatic enough to know it's football and anything can happen in the last few days of the window. I imagine he would be the type of player who some teams would covet. I'm a realist but I hope he's still here."
