Dynamo Kyiv 0-5 Chelsea: Olivier Giroud hit hat-trick as Blues storm into Europa League quarter-finals

Olivier Giroud and Marcos Alonso celebrate for Chelsea

Chelsea powered into the Europa League quarter-finals as an Olivier Giroud hat-trick inspired a 5-0 win at Dynamo Kyiv to complete and 8-0 aggregate win.

Leading 3-0 from the first leg, Giroud's hat-trick plus goals from Alonso and Hudson-Odoi eased the Blues into the last eight.

It took Chelsea just five minutes to take the lead on the night and extend their advantage to 4-0 on aggregate.

Giroud turned in his seventh Europa League goal of the season from close range after Loftus-Cheek flicked on Willian's right-wing corner.

The Europa League's top scorer Giroud took his tally to eight for the campaign after 33 minutes as Chelsea continued to dominate their opponents.

Alonso's one-two with Loftus-Cheek cut open the Dynamo Kiev defence before Alonso's cross left Giroud with a simple finish.

Alonso went from provider to scorer as Chelsea made it 3-0 on the night and 6-0 on aggregate on the stroke of half-time - Hudson-Odoi pulling the ball across goal for the Spaniard to tap in.

Giroud completed his hat-trick just before the hour mark as Chelsea made it 4-0, heading in from Willian's free-kick.

Chelsea continued their rout of Kiev as Hudson-Odoi got in on the act to take the score to 5-0 on the night - Giroud this time turning provider to slip in the 18-year-old, who calmly slotted into the net.

Europa League round-up

In the other early kick-offs, there was high drama in Russia as Krasnodar took an 85th-minute lead against Valencia to level the tie up and seemingly send them through on away goals.

However, the Spanish side bagged in the third minute of stoppage time to break the home side's hearts and send them through to the last eight.

Napoli scored first in Vienna to make it 4-0 on aggregate against Red Bull Salzburg, but the home side made a real go of it by scoring three times to make it a 4-3 aggregate scoreline.
