European Football review: Wonder goals from Dybala & Immobile, Barca duo on form & Greek league suspended

Paulo Dybala scored a brilliant free kick as Juventus struck a big blow in the Serie A title race while the Greek league was suspended.

It was a memorable weekend across Europe, with some stunning goals on the field and some stunning scenes off it as well, while big guns Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus all took big steps towards their respective titles.

Serie A stunners

It’s been some week for Juventus as they dumped Spurs out of the Champions League before going top of Serie A at the weekend thanks to two goals from that man Paulo Dybala in their 2-0 home victory against Udinese.

Dybala showed exactly why he’s one of the hottest properties around with a wonderful free kick as he proved the difference again as Juve moved a point above Napoli, who could only draw at Inter having been beaten by Roma in their previous game as their title challenge falls apart.

Juventus play their game in hand at home against Atalanta on Wednesday and a victory would put them four points clear with ten games left to play.

Juventus are 4/11 to win Serie A with Sky Bet – Napoli are now 2/1.

Ciro Immobile

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile just can’t stop scoring, but even by his standards his stoppage time strike against Cagliari was something special – even if it was only good enough to salvage a point.

Immobile produced a flying back-heeled volley to lob the keeper for his 34th goal in 36 games this season as he continues his challenge to be the top scorer in Europe. Someone may score more, not many will score better than this effort.

Spain

Barcelona had no Lionel Messi this weekend as he welcomed a new baby into the world, but former Liverpool duo Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez picked up the slack with a goal each as the league leaders won 2-0 at Malaga.

Atletico Madrid also won as the gap remained eight points at the top of the table, but Barca will be tough to stop if they continue in this form, especially with Coutinho growing into his new club – he scored with a brilliant flick to showcase his ability.

Real Madrid also won, but they’re still languishing 15 points off their fierce rivals as, perhaps in acknowledgement of their league season so far, Sergio Ramos even left the field late in their game for an emergency toilet break!

Champions League betting: Real Madrid 7/2 Barcelona 5/1

Germany

Robert Lewandowski just keeps on scoring as he bagged a hat-trick for Bayern Munich in a 6-0 thrashing of Hamburg that maintained their massive 20-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga.

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi continues to star for Borussia Dortmund on loan as he scored another two goals - including a stoppage time winner - in their dramatic 3-2 Bundesliga victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Bayern Munich are 5/1 with Sky Bet to win the Champions League

Greek league suspended

The Greek Super League has been suspended after PAOK Salonika's president Ivan Savvidis invaded the pitch apparently carrying a gun during a controversial match on Sunday.

Ivan Savvidis entered the field to protest against his team having a late goal ruled out for offside against AEK Athens.

Deputy Sports Minister Giorgos Vasiliadis announced all top flight football had been abandoned on Monday after a meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
